If you’d like to see my business and brand evolve over the last 13+ years, just look down through my yearly “behind the scenes” blog posts – because, WHEW! What a ride! This started as a fun experiment (did I even have photos of myself working as a wedding photographer?) And let’s be honest: I...
Happy 12th “behind the scenes” blog post. And well, this year’s post is a little bit DIFFERENT.2024 was a weird year for weddings for me (and 2025 is shaping up to be just as strange). I didn’t photograph as many weddings in 2024 as I have in the past. But instead of letting myself get discouraged...
Happy 11th “behind the scenes” blog post.At this point, my brain has quit computing the number of years I’ve been at this. When people ask how long I’ve been a photographer and I tell them that I shot my first solo-wedding in 2009 (I was second-shooting and learning the ropes in 2008) and that this...
Welcome to my FAVORITE blog post of the entire year!!It’s the Abby’s Saturday BLOOPER blog post! YAY! So, let me give a tiny bit of background: once upon a time, before we had children – I looked around for a way to consistently practice and grow my photography skills. Thankfully, our sweet puppy stepped up...
This is my TENTH annual “behind the scenes” blog post… I’m pausing to let that sink in.TEN.I’m not sure if I should laugh or cry at that statement. (Am I really that old? Have I really been doing this that long? How did I ever get so lucky to do wedding photography as my job?)(For...
Hi! I'm Kara!
Welcome to my blog!
I'm a Pittsburgh-based wedding photographer and wedding content creator with a love for storytelling, both on wedding days and beyond.
I've been part of the wedding industry since 2009, documenting 250+ wedding days and helping couples preserve the moments, big and small, that make their day uniquely theirs.
When I'm not working a wedding, you'll probably find me creating videos for my personal YouTube channel, The Adventuring Abbeys, where my family and I share our love of amusement parks, roller coasters, and travel.
Around here, you'll find wedding inspiration and behind-the-scenes content, family adventures, amusement park visits, travel stories, and a little bit of everyday life.
I'm so glad you're here!
