This past weekend was the most amazing, gorgeous, warm & sunny Memorial Day weekend I can ever remember! Usually (meaning: just about always) we have photos of Dad grilling out over the fire, with an umbrella over his head because we planned to have burgers & the weather planned for rain! But not this year! Sunday was a little on the non-sunny side, but it was still warm!
Normal Memorial Day weekends at Deep Creek Lake are a little on the chilly side and rainy – this is the first year I ever remember being able to go swimming this early in the year! And the fact that I got in the water this early is saying something – let me assure you!! I always tease that I don’t get into the water unless the temps are up in the 80’s & well, they were up there last weekend!
This past weekend, the cabin hosted 24 people! Our little family is growing & that means weekends at the Lake get a little more challenging strategic as far as sleeping arrangements & bathroom usage. Thankfully, we all agree that we’re just happy to be there & so everyone sleeps wherever (bunk-beds, couches, the futon, the floor) and we make it fun. Especially now, everyone is getting older (us cousins anyways, our parents & Grandparents have stopped aging) & that makes it so much more fun – silly conversations, hilarious teasing & jokes, wild & extremely competitive games – this age is truly the most fun! And I love that everyone simply adores Braelynn – she fits right in with everyone & gets too much attention!
We also celebrated Emma’s graduation! At Pleasant View Baptist Church, they always do such a lovely presentation to their graduates. I might have cried, a little lot – Mom-hormones, what are you gonna do?
Zeb dragged down the lift that he’s been using at home to trim the trees to take care of a few dead limbs & trees on our property. Of course, he also gave free rides – so that was awesome! I went up and we went as high as it could go (I didn’t look down, but we were above the trees!!) and I took a few photos of our house & property! How often does that happen?
We were up so high, you literally couldn’t see the lake for the trees, so we had to come down a little bit to get a view of the lake!
