Mike called Liz to let her know they were going to celebrate his Grandma’s birthday that night. Caught off guard & unprepared, Liz rushed around to get ready. Flustered and wishing he had given her more of a heads up, she rushed over to Mike’s house to meet up with him & his family.
They’d been together forever. They had talked about getting married and agreed that it was something that they wanted to do someday, and the ball was officially in Mike’s court. As Liz rushed over to meet up with Mike & his family, a diamond ring was the furthest thing from her mind.
And that’s when Mike decided to pop the question. As she rushed through the door, Liz was stopped in her tracks by Mike. The world stopped spinning, time slowed to a crawl, as Mike got down on one knee and asked Liz to continue on this adventure called life with him. She was floored – so surprised. And of course, she said yes.
Their engagement lasted 2 years. At one point, they planned to get married in 2014, but then the opportunity to buy an amazing house & piece of property came up and they couldn’t pass it up. It truly is an incredible place – we did their engagement pictures on their property! October 2015 was settled on and they planned an amazing wedding! But, see for yourself!
Liz & Mike – thank you so so much for trusting me to capture your wedding day! It was full to the brim with such memorable moments, it was the perfect exclamation point to end my 2015 wedding season!
Liz’s Grandfather passed away just weeks before their wedding day. She choose to honor him by having his tie tack & his photograph on her bouquet.
Also in memory of Liz’s Grandfather, Liz drove to the ceremony in her Grandpa’s restored classic car!
I loved being back at St. Peter & St. Paul Church in Towanda! I shot one of my first weddings there, so it was so much fun to go back!
Don’t let their gorgeous smiles and the warm colors convince you that it wasn’t freezing – it was so cold last Saturday! Everyone were such troopers though!
I have never seen a firehall transformed into such an incredible space! The burlap & the trees & lights draped around the room made it feel so cozy and the backdrop that they created out of old doors and rustic picture frames – it was absolutely gorgeous!
Liz’s first dance with her Dad was so precious!
Toasts are always some of my favorite moments – but the toasts Liz & Mike’s sisters & friends gave were so heartfelt and memorable!
I absolutely love this moment.
The dance floor was filling up and I turned around to see Liz & Mike, sitting with Liz’s Grandma, showing her their rings. I know it’s not the prettiest image, but the story behind it just gives me chills. Wedding days rush by in such a whirlwind, and here Liz & Mike took the time to sit down and visit with Grandma. It just goes to show you what amazing and caring people they are!
Later on in the evening, all of the single ladies were called to the dance floor. Liz turned around to toss her bouquet and then this happened:
That’s Mike’s Dad! I love Liz’s face in the background – how priceless is that?!
Liz & Mike even had a special guest show up at the end of the evening – Napoleon Dynamite!
