Well, here we are – 2 months into life with this handsome fellow! I wish I knew where the time was disappearing off to, because it sure is flying by fast!
On Sunday, Leander turned 2 months old. So, here’s a little update on what he’s been up to the last month!
- Leander is such a smiley baby (obviously!) Everyone keeps asking me how I get him to smile for all of his photos, but he’s seriously just a happy, smiley little guy (for the most part – there are definitely moments that are not smiley & happy, but overall, he’s so pleasant).
- Leander loves moving around (he hates sitting still – sound like anyone else we know & love *cough* Derrick *cough*?), so it makes sense that he loves being in the Moby Wrap. I love it too! It’s so fun to be able to wrap him up & tie him to my body – that way he’s super close & feels like I’m holding him, but gives me the flexibility to have both of my hands to do laundry, clean up around the house, or do art projects with Braelynn! Further, he’d prefer to sit up rather than lay down – so he loves to be propped up between pillows so he’s sitting up & he much prefers that position to laying down!
- He now looks around & will recognize people – and of course, give his biggest smiles to the ones he knows. In fact, just the other day, he was sitting with his Daddy on the couch while I was sitting at my computer catching up on a little bit of
work, when Leander looked around and saw me. I know they say infants can’t see very far when they’re first born, but their eyesight gradually improves: well, he saw me because he all of a sudden got super vocal & was cooing away. I looked over & sure enough, he was staring right at me! It’s so much fun! - Speaking of cooing – he is definitely a “talker” (but of course, he’s got to keep up with his big sister who talks a mile a minute)! He loves to coo & growl at anyone who will listen to him & just recently, he’s started to really mimic mouth movements. So, if you are sitting & looking at him and you open your mouth really wide, he’ll do the same. If you move your tongue around, he’ll move his tongue around. If you talk to him, he’ll move his mouth and make it look like he’s trying to get out sentences too!
- Leander enjoys bath time, but hates getting out of the bath (but I mean, who doesn’t). He really isn’t the biggest fan of being naked! Braelynn used to love being undressed, but it seems to make Leander feel insecure (maybe I’m making that up, but he truly doesn’t seem to love it as some kids do).
- He loves the sound of the vacuum cleaner!
- He’s quickly growing out of 3-month clothes & we’re now moving into 3-6 month stuff! I feel like I just put away his newborn size clothes, and now I’m putting away all of the 0-3 & some of his 3-month stuff! He was just over 11 pounds at his last doctor appointment, so he’s getting very close to doubling his birth weight! Why must they grow so fast?
- He’s gaining more and more control over his hands & learning to grab things – in other words, if you have long hair or a necklace on, watch out! He loves to twist his fingers into my hair & give it a good yank. So, if you see me, and my hair is in a ponytail for the next few months – you’ll know why!
- Sleeping has sort of improved – he’s gone from only sleeping 60-90 minute stretches at night (and then being awake for 45-60 minutes), to sleeping 2-3 hour stretches (every once in a great while he’ll sleep 4 hours) and then is only awake for about 20 minutes to nurse & go back to sleep. I feel like we’re getting really close to being ready to start some sleep training & getting on a schedule (I can’t wait for that day!)
Right after I took Leander’s
The specialist told us it was nothing we did or didn’t do – but something that happens in the womb and is completely uncontrollable. It’s simply cosmetic & looks quite alarming if you don’t realize what you’re looking at (his belly button is roughly the side of a gumball).
So, that was exciting. Month 1 we dealt with thinking he had a lip or tongue tie, Month 2 we dealt with being diagnosed with an umbilical hernia – what’s next? (Hopefully nothing!)
Here are his Two Month photos! It blows my mind how much he’s changed & looks so much older from his One Month photos already! Time can slow down anytime now!
Somebody decided to kick off his photos sleeping, but it wasn’t long before he opened those big blue eyes to look at Mama and her big black camera!
If you’d like to follow along with what our little guy is up to on a more weekly basis – I’m taking weekly photos of him (just like I did with Braelynn) too! I post those updates every Monday on my personal Facebook page, as well as my Instagram account!
