Wait until you see the nearly 7 foot long dragon Braelynn crocheted in the month of May – what a HUGE project and it turned out ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!
When I think back to the month of May, two things dominate the month: Mother’s Day (yay!) and hosting extended family.
We celebrated Mother’s Day in our traditional way: spending the afternoon and evening at Kennywood on an absolutely beautiful day – having fun TOGETHER.
And right after that, we hosted Derrick’s parents who visited for a few days, which then rolled into hosting Derrick’s cousin for a few days – it was so fun to see family members who rarely get to see and spend time with!
But the month started with us finishing up an EPIC grand family vacation in Georgia. We book-ended that trip with visits to Carowinds and also squeezed in a quick visit to Six Flags Over Georgia on our way home as well.
Moments of note this month:
(0:15) The beginnings of Braelynn’s crochet dragon..
(1:03) Happy Mother’s Day!
(3:18) I finally got our Family Yearbook from 2025 printed – I always design it and then wait for a really good sale – usually I hit it pretty close (as the company typically does a big discount in March), but I must have just missed it this year – so I had to wait until May. But the 40% off coupon was worth waiting for and I’m obsessed with the results!
(3:52) The dragon is complete!
(4:32) We sang Happy Birthday to Derrick early since his parents wouldn’t be with us to celebrate his ACTUAL birthday
(6:37) Happy Memorial Day
(7:59) Braelynn’s first lemonade stand of the year – this year she created a lot of different crochet things to sell as well!
(8:47) First trip down to Deep Creek Lake, Maryland! Many more trips to come this summer!
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what our May looked like!
