It’s funny, every month I create these videos and every month, certain themes tend to rise to the surface.
We’ve had LOTS of LEGO themed months, Star Wars months, swimming months – but June 2026 is firmly DERRICK’S month.
Last month, Derrick celebrated his 40th birthday and somehow, I pulled off planning and orchestrating a big surprise party for him. (I still am not sure how I did it, I was such a wreck the week leading into his party – I was convinced that someone was going to spoil the surprise!) It was such a fun and memorable evening!
We’ve also spent quite a lot of random time at the Lake already this year (and by “random” I mean, non-weekend-days). It’s been DELIGHTFUL.
Moments of note this month:
(0:00) See? Lots of time at the Lake!
(1:00) The kids had a second lemonade stand – this time Braelynn had her own table for crochet things and Leander sold lemonade and brownies
(2:02) We did NOT get a new dog – but we did do some dog-sitting and it was lovely – the kids were in heaven
(2:34) Derrick’s “pre-birthday” celebration: cherry pie and mini golfing
(4:43) The BIG surprise!
(7:49) More time at the Lake
(10:21) We went to Kennywood with my Mom and sister: Ruby
(12:10) Leander made his “signature” sandwich (this is just hilarious to me because I have a similar video of Braelynn creating a sandwich a few years back!
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what our June looked like!
