Heather ruined it.
Greg had his proposal all planned out – they were going to travel up to Niagara Falls, spend a romantic day adventuring around the Falls, and then when the moment was right, he was going to pop the question.
In his head, it all worked out seamlessly – right up until the moment when Heather canceled their trip and decided she wanted to stay home for the weekend.
What’s a guy supposed to do? He couldn’t beg or cry or plead with Heather too much without spoiling the surprise. Besides, Heather had good reasons that she wanted to stay home. So, it was back to the drawing board for Greg – time to think up a new plan.
Heather is a runner and a lover of the great outdoors. Together, she and Greg love to hike and take their beloved German Shepherd, Eli, on adventures. So, two weeks after the botched Niagara Falls weekend, the 3 of them went hiking. They hiked to a certain spot and as they were resting, Heather was watching Greg playing around with Eli. I can only imagine what was going through her head [because I know what would be going through MY head!]: He loves the dog more than he loves me! Look at him, playing with him, giving all his attention to him, he’s talking to the dog more than me! And look! He just kissed the dog! Don’t get me wrong: Heather loved Eli too, but she was feeling a little left out at the moment.
As the thoughts were floating through Heather’s head, Greg was nervously playing with Eli, pulling together the courage to do what he had planned to do 2 weeks prior. As Heather began to tease Greg that he was loving on the dog more than her, he dropped to his knees, pulled out the ring, and asked Heather to marry him – promising her that as much as he loved Eli – he loved her more.
Heather & Greg got married last Saturday on the lawn of the Corning Country Club. Surrounded by friends and family, in a beautiful, personal ceremony, they pledged their love & lives to one another. It was an incredible day & I was beyond blessed to be a part of it!
Heather & her Mom designed, created, and assembled the wedding invitations themselves! They turned out amazing!
I have so many favorite moments from last Saturday, and this was a big one! Nathan, Heather’s nephew, was the ring bearer and as he saw his Aunt for the first time in her wedding dress, he said, “Wow! You’re so pretty, Aunt Heather! Almost as beautiful as my Mom.”
Heather & Greg decided to do a first look! My favorite!
It was such a lovely moment, until some golfers came along and explained we were kind of in the way of their next shot and asked us to move. Not wanting to get knocked in the head with a golf ball, we moved.
Greg’s nieces were the flower girls & they were SO perfectly adorable!! Whenever I would take a photo, the littlest one would come running back to me: “I want to see! I want to see!”
So, because of their first look, we were able to do all of the bridal party photos before the ceremony! It was so laid back and relaxed!
How amazing is this cake?!
We decided to run out really quick and snap a few sunset photos and I am beyond thrilled that we did! We couldn’t have asked for more perfect light! Remember this sign from their engagement session? Heather’s Dad made it for them!
Then it was back into the party! Bulldog Sounds was the DJ for the evening – I’ve worked with Bob before [at Kelli & Shane’s New Year’s Eve wedding] and he does not disappoint! He is a fabulous DJ & really knows how to get a party going!
