As I sit with my belly stuffed full of delicious things, my toes warmed by a fuzzy blanket, the glow of Christmas lights creating the most festive atmosphere, snuggled up on the couch watching (of course) Star Wars, it’s easy to be thankful. After a wonderful day full of time with family (and sneaking in a chilly engagement session early this morning), it’s easy to relax back into an easy-going place of gratefulness.
But it’s not always this easy. In fact, this week has held some of the most stressful days that I’ve had in a long time. My beloved computer has been getting painfully slow (and I’m not sure what to do to fix it – any Mac pros out there that can give me a hand?) And, due to some recent updates to my operating system & apps, my usual workflow surrounding processing images has simply not worked (for example, I had to manually rename about 250 files – a huge long process that I used to be able to do automatically in about 15 seconds – and that’s just one of the problems that cropped up this week). My to-do list has been long and unending. And with some pressing deadlines, I’ve let the anxiety & stress get the best of me.
Which is the perfect reason why today has been so important & refreshing & good for my soul. It’s been the precise re-focusing that I needed.
I have a wonderful, caring, loving husband who not only puts up with my craziness, but loves me all the same. I have the most darling, kind, loving daughter who is constantly telling me that she loves me (and talking my ear off about everything under the sun). And I have the most precious, smiley, loving son who giggles & is a bright ray of sunshine, no matter what is going on.
And so, I truly am thankful & grateful & so so blessed. I love my little business & the sweet couples I serve & celebrate with. I love that my little business allows me to stay home & love on my sweet babies every single day. I love my house & where we live & everything about our lives right now. Things are crazy, there is constantly a list of things to do, but life is so so good.
I hope that today has been a wonderful day for you! A day of re-centering and remembering to be thankful in everything & every day.
And, because what is a post without photos? Here are a few of the family photos that my sister (and favorite photographer) Ellen took of us a few weeks ago!
