Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I know everyone complains about people skipping the Thanksgiving holiday & jumping straight from Halloween to Christmas. Since we aren’t big into Halloween, we typically never fall into that “category” of people, but I feel like this year? We kind of have.
Christmas has really been a huge focus for us this year. With a baby boy expected just 11 days before Christmas, I feel like we’ve put a ton of effort into making the month of December as laid back & relaxed as possible. Goals of having all the Christmas gifts bought & wrapped by November 30, setting up the Christmas Tree, sending out Christmas cards, and decorating the house earlier than usual all seem to have overtaken my entire thought process this year. And I mean, I have good reason: our baby boy is coming!! He could literally arrive any day now (I’m 37 weeks tomorrow, so he officially has the green light to make his appearance anytime after we eat Thanksgiving dinner tonight).
So, in a lot of ways, I feel like Thanksgiving has kind of snuck up on us & arrived out of the blue. I mean, sure, I’ve been talking to my Mom for a few weeks about the Thanksgiving menu & what I could bring for family dinner, but our entire focus has simply been on Christmas.
That being said, today is officially Thanksgiving. And it’s been a day of slowing down, putting all the Christmas stuff on hold, and simply being thankful.
I have so much to be thankful for – not just today, but every day. Life is seriously wonderful (and it’s about to get even more exciting with the arrival of our little guy)!
So, even though we might have skipped all the usual “Thanksgiving-y” things, like posting on Instagram every day something that we’re thankful for and leaving up the fall/harvest decor until today, nothing could dim our thankfulness. Especially looking back over the last year, we are extremely blessed. My business has flourished, Derrick’s passions have been recognized, Braelynn has grown into quite the little princess, and we’re about to become a “Party of 4”. Life is so wonderful.
And, because what is a post without photos? Here are a few of the family photos that my sister (and favorite photographer) Ellen took of us a few weeks ago!
If you’d like to take a trip down memory lane, check out the last few year’s Thanksgiving posts where I highlight our family’s photos that Ellen has taken for us!
