April was the strangest month of the year in southwestern Pennsylvania – after a string of gloriously warm weather in March, April arrived with SNOW on April Fool’s Day (we simply called it the weather playing a joke on us).
Things quickly got back into shape though & we were back to running around outside in shorts (and we even broke out our pool & water-table) in no time at all.
April also brought with it Easter! We had a whirlwind weekend, celebrating with BOTH Derrick & I’s extended sides of the family – lots of egg hunting, good food eating, and thoroughly enjoying the company of our amazing families.
We took our very first roller coaster riding trip mid-April, but I pulled all of those videos together on their own, so as not to overwhelm our daily, “normal life” highlights video. You can view the highlights of our first trip of 2021 here!
Braelynn learned to build “big” puzzles this month! She is obsessed & determined to build even bigger puzzles with more pieces, so she can be just like her Aunt Ruby.

Just in case you missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is less than 5 minutes long!) video of my favorite snippets. (This month’s video is a tad over 5 minutes, but I’m blaming that on Easter being in April & there being extra footage from that!)
Enjoy a tiny little peek into what our April looked like!
