Have you ever done something because your friends pressured you into it?
Well, (thankfully) that’s what happened to Tory.
She was in college and Tinder was new, and shiny, and the thing. All of her friends were on it and they persuaded her to join. “It’s a great way to meet new friends!” they convinced her. But, Tory really didn’t care about the app. In fact, she kind of forgot about it – only checking it now and then. She did meet a few people – including this guy named Cory she had chatted with for a tiny bit, but ultimately, she simply forgot about Tinder (and Cory).
A few months passed, and Cory went on vacation. One night, after partying a little (okay, maybe more than just “a little”), he randomly decided to text that girl he had met on Tinder a few months ago.
And well, you could say the rest is history.
Texts turned into phone calls, which turned into invitations to come hang out.
And after a few months of their friendship building and blossoming, Cory’s Mom looked at the two of them and said, “Well, are you going to make this official and start dating or what?!”
Fast forward through a few years of dating in the fall of 2021.
Tory has always loved horses. Growing up she had horses and rode all the time, so when she went to college at St. Vincent and discovered that they have an equestrian club, joining was a no-brainer.
After a weekend of Monster-truck fun back in Maryland, Tory woke up early on a Sunday morning in mid-September to head back to Pennsylvania. She taught horse-back riding classes on Sundays through the equestrian club and she had several students scheduled for that afternoon. Cory was also working that morning, and when Tory called him on her way over to the farm, he answered, but said he was just pulling into his next customer’s driveway, and he needed to go.
For “some reason”, Tory’s schedule of students got “messed up” that afternoon – leaving her with a longer gap between students than usual. Looking to fill the time, the lady who owned the farm suggested she and Tory go for a ride together. So, Tory saddled up her horse and they hit the trails around the farm. They headed out on one of the longest trails on the property – one that ends at a gorgeous overlook of Keystone Lake.
As they got further and further out, the lady Tory was riding with suddenly stopped and directed Tory’s attention to the ground: “Hey, there’s a box down there on the ground, can you pick it up?” Curious, Tory hopped down off of her horse and scooped up the little box. In that moment, her friend grabbed her horse’s reigns and rode off back toward the farm – leaving Tory standing there, completely alone, and utterly confused.
Turning back to the box, which Tory was now realizing was more than just a “random” item left on the ground, Tory opened it to find a golden horseshoe and a note, instructing her to follow the candles and petals. She looked around and to her surprise, she saw a clear path outlined by yellow petals and candles. Now beyond curious, she followed the path all the way to find: Cory. Turns out, he hadn’t been working, but had been out at the end of this trail for hours, setting things up and waiting for her. Tory was 100% surprised and thrilled by Cory’s thoughtfulness, and when he asked her to marry him, it was the easiest “Yes” she ever gave.
This past Saturday was the big day – and wow was it perfect! Such a beautiful day, with the happiest people, and big surprises, all centered around the larger than life love that Tory and Cory share.
Tory and Cory: thank you so much for inviting me into your family to celebrate with you! You both, your wedding party, your family, and your friends were so welcoming and inviting and FUN! You both are so blessed to have an incredible circle of people who love and support you. Not everyone has that! It was quite obvious to anyone with eyeballs just how close-knit your circles are.
Hope you’re having the BEST time in Iceland – I can’t wait to hear all about your amazing adventures!!
Can we just talk about these colors?! I am super obsessed!!
I’m just going to keep saying it: I’m OBSESSED with these colors!!
Can you tell that Cory was LOVING this hat? He rocked it all day long!
Cory and Tory did not want to see each other before the ceremony, but they did want a photo together!
As a HUGE surprise, Tory and her Dad did not simply walk down the aisle following the bridesmaids.
There was a perfect few moments of silence as Cory anxiously waited to see his bride, and she did not come.
And then, from the parking lot, you could suddenly hear the roar of Tory & her Dad’s Nova as they drove up to the ceremony space. It was the most epic entrance ever and it truly, 100% surprised Cory.
Just married!
This group was truly the most fun!
Tory’s sister, Rachel, made all of the cookies on the cookie table and the cake!! It was STUNNING!
Let’s just say: they knew how to have fun and the night only got better and better and better.
Everyone seems to have these personalized LED’s this year and I LOVE IT!
Huge shout-out and thank you to the amazing team of vendors, as well as friends & family, who helped make Cory & Tory’s wedding day absolutely perfect!
