Highlight of the Week

Happy Thanksgiving Week!

Can you tell that the kids are holding my “Thankful” banner in this week’s photo? Turns out, it’s much harder to take a photo of two little people & a dog, holding a banner – upright & legible – than I thought. This is literally the one good image out of like 100 that I took!

We spent Thanksgiving with the Abbey’s. We drove up Wednesday night & had a relaxing two full days of eating, playing games, talking, and more eating. And now, we’re on our way home, with an extra passenger! Derrick’s Dad is in Africa so we kidnapped his Mom to come home with us for a few days! She’ll spend the next week with us!

Yes, This Happened

• We went to the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium this week! Every year around this time, the Zoo opens their gates to the public for free & we always try to plan a visit during that time. And it worked out perfectly for us to go on Tuesday this week! The weather was gorgeous & we had such a fun time! It was Leander’s first visit to the Zoo & it was so fun to watch him take in all of the animals! His favorite were the fish in the aquarium – probably because he could see them so easily & stand up at the glass. He followed this little yellow fish for a solid 10 minutes – it was so adorable! Braelynn of course had a great time as well – we went with my Mom & Ruby, and we brought Alethea along with us as well! It was such a fun day!
• I know I keep saying that I’m done booking weddings in the Twin Tiers, but yet I still seem to keep booking a wedding or two up there every year. I just can’t say no! I especially couldn’t say no to booking a wedding where the bride has been a bridesmaid in 4 or 5 weddings that I’ve photographed. I feel like I’ve already worked with her so many times, of course I would photograph her wedding! I got together with the sweet couple on Thanksgiving morning for their engagement photos & had such a wonderful time – never mind that it was freezing & raining & so windy! They were champs & I am obsessed with their images! But seriously guys, this is it: no more weddings in the Twin Tiers.
• Did anyone score any crazy amazing Black Friday deals? Since we were away, we didn’t venture out to the stores this year (we usually try to hit up WalMart, Best Buy, & Target) we simply did all of our shopping online. I found a few decent deals, but overall, didn’t feel like I found anything “wow-worthy”.

Feeling Blessed

I have one more wedding this year & then my 2019 photography season will officially be over! It’s tomorrow & it’s just a small, intimate, short event. I’m definitely excited to wrap everything up & move into the “off-season”! I have so many things I want to dive into – including a new website design, creating new sample albums, revisiting a bunch of the logistics of my business – all the stuff that I can’t do while I’m actively shooting & editing images. Plus, the down-time means time to rest & relax, enjoy the holidays & my kid’s birthdays!

Speaking of which, I’m 100% in denial that Leander’s birthday is this week! Where in the world has the last year gone?!
