- Leander was playing with my laundry basket this week & I realized: I haven’t done a laundry basket Abby’s Saturday photo in a long time (almost 2 years to be exact!)
The concept of putting Abby in a laundry basket was originally a photo I took in our first house in 2014: Abby’s Saturday #30. Then in 2017, I put both Abby & Braelynn in a laundry basket for Abby’s Saturday #170. And then, we added Leander to the mix for Abby’s Saturday #267. And well – here we are again for #363! - This week has been Just Between Friends Sale prep week. With a busy week next week & a big wedding next weekend – and the sale starting just 3 days later, this was my week to get everything I’ll be selling together, cleaned, prepped & tagged for the sale. It’s always a lot of work, but by breaking it all up into steps that I tackle on different days – it makes it so much easier & more manageable!! I honestly don’t mind the work that is getting stuff together to sell because the rewards of being a “consignor” are just SO good: not only do I (typically) make a lot of money, but I get in to shop early & I get to shop the half-price sale early (plus, I get rid of a TON of stuff that we no longer need!) I always have kind of looked at it as simply swapping out stuff that my kids have grown out of for the next “stage” – the next size clothes & shoes, and the next “level” of toys. Plus, I just love the “hunt” of consignment shopping – you never know what little gold nugget you’re going to find & I’m obsessed with it.
Anyways – I’m about 90% ready for the sale – I still have a bin of toys that need tagged (something that has to happen after the kids go to bed), but all of my clothes & shoes & books are completely ready to go. - Last Saturday, Derrick took Braelynn to Father/Daughter Camp last Saturday & they had the best time ever! Father/Daughter (and Father/Son) Camp is a ministry that my Dad has been involved in for almost a decade now & it’s so fun to see it growing & becoming better each year. There are no age restrictions, but considering the activities at Camp – Braelynn is just old enough to go & so instead of going for the full weekend, they just went for the day last weekend. She cannot stop talking about it – horseback riding, zip-lining, throwing knives, shooting guns, painting, rock climbing, the list goes on & on of the things they did & they had a blast. Braelynn keeps saying, “All we have to do is get a tent & then we can go spend the night there next year!” She’s hooked!
- On their way home from Camp, a crazy driver forced Derrick off the road & he blew a tire. Thankfully, he was able to get the spare on & make it home, but it was still quite the exclamation point ending to their fun day. Derrick took his car to the shop this week & had them check it out – thankfully, they didn’t find any damage to the rest of the car (just the blown tire), so it was a simple fix.
- I created two new family vlog videos this week! I finally got caught up on our Adventuring Abbey series (this time overviewing our trip to Six Flags Great Adventure, Kings Dominion, and Carowinds – I’ll be sharing more about that trip this coming week, so stay tuned!) & I put together our monthly family video as well! I typically aim for our monthly family video (which is just supposed to be us doing life at home) to be around 5 minutes long, but this month it ended up being nearly 3 times that length – oops. Oh well – they’re my memories & if I want to keep them all & make a really long video – I can, because I’m the boss.
