Abby’s Saturday // Three Hundred And Sixty-Four

Abbys Saturday Black Lab Framed in Blue
  • Braelynn has been obsessed with butterflies this week. Our zinnia garden is in full bloom in our backyard (they’re the only flowers I can grow, I have a black thumb) and we’ve had tons of butterflies! She’s even caught a few & put them in her bug catcher (she keeps them overnight & then lets the go in the morning) – so far, they’ve all survived!
Anyways, we’ve also had thunderstorms almost every evening this week (thanks to the super high humidity & hot temps) which prompted Braelynn being worried about her butterflies. We explained to her that they are totally fine, even when it thunderstorms. Which led to her asking: “Do butterflies have force-fields around them? You know, so they don’t get struck by lightning?”
I told her we’d have to get some books from the library to further study butterflies this coming week.
  • After a month-long break at home, we were off chasing roller coasters again last weekend! First, we stopped at Dorney Park in Allentown, PA – the park Derrick rode his very first “big” coaster at (and a park we haven’t been to in 10 years), then we visited Sesame Place (which is technically our “homepark” in the Busch Gardens chain), and then we went to Playland’s Castaway Cove – which is a boardwalk park in Ocean City, NJ. It was definitely a different trip, but we had a lot of fun! Braelynn & I finally got to ride Oscar’s Wacky Taxi (a roller coaster at Sesame Place that we have been trying to ride for 18 months) and Derrick & I finally got on Gale Force – a boardwalk coaster that a lot of people have been talking about lately (it was a TON of fun). Obviously, I vlogged the whole trip & will have that video out soon!
  • I am 100% ready for the JBF sale (a gigantic kids consignment sale that happens twice a year at the Convention Center in Monroeville, PA) coming up this week! And by “ready”, I mean, everything I am selling has been prepped, tagged, hung/packaged, sorted, and is ready to be dropped off. I officially tagged my last item last night – and drop off isn’t until Tuesday. That means I’m completely done with 4 days to spare (I’m not sure if I’ve ever been so ready so early before!) I absolutely love shopping this sale & I cannot wait for this coming week!
  • Leander has been intensely (and growing every day) obsessed with trains & building train tracks for his trains to roll along. It’s SO much fun. He’s also figured out that he can pull out his bin of cars, trucks, airplanes, & motorcycles in order to play with them. In other words, about 90% of the day now, I have a heap of cars/trucks/trains on my living room floor, and you can find Leander rolling some sort of “wheeled vehicle” around the house. It’s adorable.
  • I made Derrick a cherry pie last night. No particular reason.
  • I ordered a bunch of books off of Amazon this week. I’ve been reading more and more (and even though I have a stack of books on my bookshelf that I haven’t read yet) I needed some new material. I just have been trying to get away from simply reaching for my phone all the time – so I’ve been reaching for a book instead (which absolutely delights the 10-year-old in me who used to judge a new purse based on the amount of books it would hold). I grabbed this one, this one, this one, this one, and a few others.
  • Speaking of Amazon, we had to order a new “dance party” light. Part of our bedtime routine is to do a 10ish minute dance party right before bed (to help get out all the extra wiggles) and we this super cool projector light I got a few months ago. Well, it was balanced up where we usually set it and it must have been slightly off-balance because it fell & came crashing down right on it’s cord – which bent & killed the light. Oops. So, we ordered a new one. This one acts as a bluetooth speaker, as well as the light (ooooooh, upgrade) – and we’re back to our nightly dance parties again.
  • Well, I’m off to shoot a wedding today!! I have been looking forward to this wedding for a year now – it’s at this gorgeous venue that I’ve been drooling over for the last 3+ years! I cannot wait to go see it in person & celebrate with Cory & Allie today!! Check back later this week for a full blog post about the amazing day today is going to be (rain, rain, go away)!
