Abby’s Saturday // Three Hundred And Forty-Five

Happy Easter from the Abbey Family in Irwin PA
  • Our 2020 Family Album came this week!! Omigoodness – I’m not sure if I have ever been so excited for the mailman to arrive at my house. I had been watching the tracking on my book like a hawk & on Wednesday, it finally arrived. It’s beautiful – I am so happy with how it turned out! It’s huge & gorgeous & packed to the brim with all the photos that tell the story of our 2020. I am obsessed with it!!
  • Chicken Pox Update (or as Braelynn calls them: “Chicken Pops”) – more good news: we are officially out of “quarantine”! Since Braelynn’s first spots appeared to Wednesday of this week – we have officially waited out the timeframe that Leander might come down with the chicken pox. And guess what? No chicken pox.
If you have been following along with the chicken pox “saga”, I did talk to Braelynn’s doctor this week because I was seriously on the fence whether she actually had chicken pox or not. I was beginning to believe she had just had some weird reaction to something. But after talking with her doctor, he reassured me that he really does believe she had chicken pox – just a very very mild case. My main concerns were that: they never blistered or scabbed over, they simply faded away & her doctor said that very mild forms of chicken pox do not blister & scab, they simply disappear. So, I guess Braelynn did have the chicken pox, just a super super mild case – and Leander never got them (go figure).
Unfortunately, the bad part of that news is: since it was such a super mild case, she definitely could get chicken pox again. Ugh. And here I was, celebrating, because I thought we were going to have it & move on without being able to get it again. Oh well.
  • What in the world is this? I can’t decide if it’s super inappropriate or super hilarious?
  • This week has presented the most ridiculous weather – at the beginning of the week it was warm & sunny & feeling like summer! But by Thursday, the weather had completely flip-flopped and it was SNOWING. Hopefully that was winter’s very last hurrah & we can now move into full-blown spring.
Having checked the weather for the week, I took the kid’s Easter photos a little early year – Tuesday night was glorious & sunshiney & warm & the perfect evening for photos (so that’s when I took this week’s Abby’s Saturday photo!) I will share more of the photos I took of Braelynn & Leander later next week, they absolutely kill me with how adorable & grown up they are!!
  • Last week’s spring cleaning task was deep cleaning the bathroom (I talked all about it last week) – and this week’s focus was the kitchen. I have been working on my kitchen all week & I’m STILL not done. It’s crazy, I start one task & think I’ve completed it, and then realize there is more (for example, I pulled out all the shelves in our fridge & washed them & wiped down the inside of the fridge. I put everything back, happy with my newly cleaned fridge, only to realize that I didn’t clean off the shelves on the door – ugh.) I have gone thru every cupboard, purged a ton of stuff, re-organized things, even pulled my stove out to clean it’s sides & behind it. But, I still keep thinking of things I didn’t do (like, I just realized that I wiped half of the top of the fridge off, but didn’t finish the other side!) So, I guess “the kitchen” is going to bleed into next week – thankfully, there really is only about 5 tasks left until I’m satisfied.
If you’re curious: I’m following along with GoCleanCo’s spring cleaning schedule!
  • Prep for the semi-annual Just Between Friends sale is officially underway! Last weekend, I worked my butt off cleaning out our attic storage area & pulling the things that I want to sell at the sale. I absolutely love this sale – it is honestly a huge highlight for me! It’s a gigantic kids consignment sale (and we all know: thrifting is my jam) so it’s like being in shopping heaven. And the best part about it is that I get rid of a ton of stuff that the kids have outgrown & make some money (which, let’s be honest, I then turn around & spend – but hey – at least I usually break even, which I consider a huge win!) I’m about 1/3 of the way to being ready to go – which is fine because there is still about 3 weeks to go until the sale.
  • Hope you’re having a wonderful Easter weekend! It’s Saturday, but Sunday is coming!
