The weather this year is truly messing with my mind.
Did we even have a warm, sunny, spring-like day that was Easter?
Or was it just a trick of my imagination – maybe a really “real” dream?
I guess I have the photographic evidence to prove it, so I guess Easter really did happen!
Last Sunday was Easter & even though it was a bit chilly (when the wind was blowing), there was no snow on the ground & the sun was shining! It was a rare spring-like day in the midst of a winter that just can’t seem to leave! I feel like, winter this year has been like being in the middle of the ocean – it’s all you can see for miles in any direction. The waves are rolling and the depth is (scarily) unknown. But then you come to an island! And it’s beautiful, warm, & sunny. However, after just a few hours, you have to leave your glorious, sandy-beached-island, to head back out into the ocean. And once again you’re looking out at the water, with no land in sight.
That’s winter this year for us.
Easter was our “island” day. And honestly, I can’t think of a better day to be beautiful, right?
Easter Sunday was pretty relaxed for us. We went to church in the morning & then came home & took a nap (which is pretty much the universal sign for a perfect day, am I right?) We then headed over to my parent’s house for a mini Easter Egg Hunt (can’t wait until next year when Alethea & Braelynn can hunt eggs together!) and Easter dinner.
If it sounds like a restful day, it was! It was absolutely wonderful.
Braelynn did get an Easter basket. I had really good intentions of taking a photo of it before she tore it all apart (it was pretty darn cute). But, here’s how the Easter basket “finding” went down. It’s been “hiding” for 2 weeks on top of the dryer (which, you might not know, but my laundry room doubles as my office, so, in other words, it’s been sitting where I could keep an eye on it!) It wasn’t really super hidden, but it was behind a few other things that were stacked on the dryer, so it was “hidden in plain sight”. When we got home from church, I told Derrick that we needed to hide the basket for Braelynn to find. He suggested just leaving it where it was though – he reasoned that it’s been there for 2 weeks & she hasn’t spotted it, it must be a good hiding place!
So, we just left it there.
We gave Braelynn instructions to go look for her Easter basket (and here’s where I made the error) I didn’t have my camera out yet. I figured she’d walk around the house, looking here & there, and I’d have a few moments to pull my camera out, get my settings, and take a picture of the basket sitting on top of the dryer, right? I mean, that makes sense!
Except, Derrick pointed Braelynn straight into my office/laundry room & strongly suggested that it was hidden there (insert angry-eyes here). So, I hardly had time to pull my camera out of the bag when she had already found it. Thus, no cute photos of it untouched or hiding.
Her Easter basket this year had a theme – what is every 3-year-old little girl obsessed with these days? Yep, Frozen. So, everything in her basket was something Frozen: 2 Frozen books, a Frozen shirt, and little stuffed Sven & Olaf.
I might not have been 100% prepared for her to hunt for her basket, but I was totally prepared for the eggs!! We filled her Easter Eggs with Hershey Kisses & money (no big bucks, just coins). She thought running around the yard & collecting eggs was the most fun ever!
How was your Easter?
[…] know what’s funny (in a sad-sort-of-way)? The last time I blogged an “Easter Wrap-Up”, was 2 years ago – in 2018. In that post, I wrote: “I can’t wait until next year when Alethea & Braelynn can hunt eggs […]
