Haley & Travis met way back in Middle School.
Now, before you jump the gun & assume that they were these cute little kids who always had crushes on each other & then dated all thru high school – that isn’t exactly the case.
In fact – that isn’t even close to the case.
Haley & Travis might have met & gone to school together from Middle School on – but they never dated in school. Travis was interested in Haley, but Haley was not interested in Travis. That didn’t change Travis’s feelings though – he even jokingly told his friends once that he was going to marry Haley one day – to which everyone laughed & no one believed him.
On their last day of high school, after being “just friends” for all those years, Haley finally came up to Travis & said, “Well, are we going to date or what?”
And well, you could say the rest is history!
They both love to ride roller coasters (can you hear my little roller-coaster-loving-heart pick up it’s pace?) and they typically carve out time to make trips every year to go to Cedar Point & Hersheypark. So, when Travis was making his plans to propose to Haley, he wanted the location to be somewhere special & he decided on Hersheypark.
As they drove out to the park for a fun-filled roller-coaster-riding-day, Travis began to get really nervous about carrying the ring into the park. What if it set off the metal detector? What if he got randomly picked to be screened by security? What if he lost it? As they pulled thru the front gate & pulled into the parking lot – Travis made up his mind: he just couldn’t risk it. And so, he left the ring in the car.
They had a fantastic, amazing day – riding rides, eating park food, enjoying the atmosphere that is Hersheypark. Haley was completely oblivious to Travis’s slightly nervous tick – he couldn’t stop thinking about the ring he had left out in the car!
They stayed in the park until close – squeezing every last drop out of their day of fun. And as they walked back thru the empty park & out into the (just about) empty parking lot, Travis just couldn’t wait any longer.
So there, as they reached their parked car late at night, Travis unlocked the car, reached in for the ring, and just proposed. Haley was completely caught off guard, but it was the perfect ending to a perfect day (and of course, she said YES).
Just like every other couple who planned a 2020 wedding, Haley & Travis had a few bumps in the road – one of the big bumps was that they lost their wedding photographer just 3 months before their wedding day! Friends of theirs were getting married in just a few weeks, & not knowing who to turn to, Haley reached out to ask who her friend’s photographer was. Her friend was getting married at the Greyson House in Uniontown, PA & her photographer was (my dear friend), the amazing Jessica Fike! Haley reached out to Jess, but Jess was already booked for November 21st – but she’s so amazing, she referred her on to me. Which is how I came to chat with Haley & Travis – they told me their whole story & how their friends were getting married the very next day – and then we fully connected the dots – I was second-shooting for Jess at their friend’s wedding! So, I got to meet Haley & Travis in person, at their friend’s wedding. (What a crazy story, eh?)
Which brings us to this past Saturday – my last wedding of 2020 – which I got to celebrate with Haley & Travis! It might have been a chilly, rainy day, but that didn’t stop Haley & Travis and their friends & family from having the most amazing, celebratory wedding day! A day when Travis made good on his statement to his friends all those years ago & finally married the girl he just knew he was going to marry, way back in Middle School.
Haley & Travis – I know our time together was kind of fast & furious & came to be because of an unfortunate circumstance – but boy am I glad Jess referred you guys over to me! I had such an amazing day celebrating with you & your sweet families & your fun friends! It was so delightful to see you both absolutely come to life once you met each other at the end of the aisle & to watch you laugh together & love on one another. Soulmates are most definitely a thing & it was my honor to witness your connection as soulmates!
First off: we have to talk about this ring! I am absolutely obsessed with it!
Haley got ready at her Grandma’s house, which made for the sweetest backdrop for her detail & getting ready photos!
See? I told you I’m obsessed with the detailing in Haley’s ring!
I love that all four of Haley’s bridesmaids instantly swooped in to help her get her dress on! Sometimes bridesmaids seem hesitant to help – they aren’t exactly sure what to do – but these girls couldn’t help themselves but get right in there & start straightening, zipping, & buttoning Haley’s dress up!
Remember how I mentioned the rain? It rained hard during their ceremony, but then tapered off to a steady sprinkle or mist for the rest of the day & we totally made it work!
Shoutout to the groomsmen for tossing the leaves for me for this photo!! It took a few tries – but they really got good as we went on!
I just have to make sure you take note of Haley’s 2 sisters in the middle there – yep!
And then it was on to Bell’s Banquets for the reception!
Omigoodness – how in the world are they just naturally this cute?!
Now – I’ve seen the switcheroo where they blindfold the groom before he pulls the garter off of the bride’s leg (and they sub in a groomsmen), but I’ve never seen them blindfold the guy who caught the garter & sub in an older lady from the crowd! This was SUCH a riot!
Huge shout-out and thank you to the amazing team of vendors, as well as friends & family, who helped make Travis & Haley’s wedding day absolutely perfect!
