While Tory and I were talking through the logistics of her and Cory’s wedding, she said, “I have a question for you.”
From our initial conversation over a year ago, I knew that Tory had horses and that they were a huge part of her life. And not just her life, but Cory’s life too, as well as part of their story (Cory used the farm and horses as part of his proposal to Tory!) So when she asked if there was any way that we could get together after the wedding for some more photos with her horses, I wasn’t surprised at all! (And of course, I enthusiastically said, “YES!”)
Tory and Cory’s big day came and went (and it was perfect) – they went to Iceland on their honeymoon (talk about amazing) but then I didn’t hear from her when they got back.
The days leading up to a wedding are crazy, but there is an entirely different sort of crazy that happens after a wedding (something that doesn’t usually get talked about!) After all, once you get back from your honeymoon there is post-wedding stuff that needs sorted out (wedding gifts to open, decor to sort through, paperwork to do, etc.) Plus, it never seems to fail that with a wedding comes other big transitions – whether it’s moving or a new job – whatever! A lot of stuff happens after a wedding. So, I knew Tory and Cory were in the thick of all of that.
And then, a few weeks ago, Tory reached out: “I still want to do those photos with my horses – can we make it work?”
I was SO happy! Deep down I knew, if Tory put these photos off – photos she had dreamed of for years and years: photos of her in her wedding dress with her precious horses – that she would regret it for the rest of her life.
And so, in the midst of all the crazy that is post-wedding (plus a big move), we did it.
And I’m SO glad we did! The day was a bit chilly, but the leaves were still clinging to the trees, the sun was shining, and you could tell, Tory and Cory were so happy to be making this happen!!
We talked and laughed the whole time about how chill these photos were compared to their wedding day! Don’t get me wrong: Tory and Cory had a really smooth wedding day – no major hiccups or problems – but no matter how perfectly things run, wedding days run on a tight schedule. There are places to be, things to do, food to eat, and people to see. Generally speaking, there is no “taking your time” on a wedding day. But after the wedding? We can take all the time in the world! So, we simply had FUN out in the fields with Tory’s horses!
Aren’t they beautiful?!
