Believe it or not – we don’t JUST ride roller coasters (I know, it’s hard to comprehend).
We spent a week in Williamsburg, Virginia with my Mom and had a delightful time.
YES, we visited Busch Gardens Williamsburg (we were there three times), but we did other things as well!
(0:01) We stayed at the Greensprings Vacation Resort – yes, it is a timeshare. We stayed in a related timeshare in 2022 in Florida and attended the presentation so that we could get a free 7-day stay. This is the resort we were able to redeem that stay at. If you stay there, just be prepared for them to attempt to bribe you into a timeshare presentation.
Overall, we were happy with the resort! The pools and amenities were wonderful, our condo was great, the staff (except for the timeshare guy) were fantastic.
(1:36) The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown – this was a fantastic museum, lots of things for the kids to touch and do, a wonderful outdoor area with lots of re-enactors stationed around!
(3:10) Yorktown Beach – this is a beach we’ve been to before & we love it. It’s small, quiet (at least it has been every time we’ve been there), clean, and easily accessible. It’s also much closer to Williamsburg than Virginia Beach!
(5:21) Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant – if you love seafood, you MUST visit Captain George’s! Sure, it’s a little pricey, but we ate our weight in crab legs and made it completely worth it! It’s an incredible experience with a huge variety of food!
(8:07) The Jamestown Settlement – this is another museum with outdoor exhibit – this one is larger than the Yorktown Museum and there is so much more to see here! Seeing the Indians and talking to them and getting to explore the ships were our favorite parts!
(10:30) Duck Donuts was right down the road from our resort and we visited TWICE – it’s just SO GOOD!
(10:46) Kidsburg at Veteran’s Park was also right down the road from our resort and turned out to be one of the BEST playgrounds we’ve ever found! It’s HUGE and has so much variety, plus two zip-lines! It was the perfect place to spend a morning and let the kids run off some energy!
And of course, we spent lots of time at Busch Gardens Williamsburg – our adventures there are chronicled HERE: The Adventuring Abbeys go to Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
**TOP TIP: You can get a combo pass to The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown and The Jamestown Settlement – AND if you are a homeschooler – they apply an additional discount to that pass!!
Of course, what is a post without photos? Here are a few of the highlights of our trip both from my iPhone 14 Pro and “big” camera (I have a Canon R6).
