It’s been a while since we’ve visited the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium! Long enough, that Leander did not know what we were talking about when we said: “Let’s go to the zoo!”
Needless to say: now he 110% knows what the zoo is and he talks about seeing the elephants and lions and snakes (ick) every single day.
Even though it’s been about 2 years since our last visit, we LOVE our zoo! It’s big and has a ton of variety, and you never know what you’re going to see!
We went on a sunny weekday at the beginning of March, and it was quite chilly when we arrived (it warmed up as the day went on – you can watch the progression of the kids bundled up and shedding layers as the day goes on).
Our theory is that the animals always seem to be more active when there’s a chill in the air and that theory definitely held true on the day we visited! The tiger, lions, gorillas, zebras, giraffes, and sea lions all seemed particularly playful and were marvelous to watch!
