Visiting the Grand Canyon was INCREDIBLE. Words, photos, and videos do not do it justice in any way shape or form. You simply MUST visit and see this incredible thing with your own eyes.
Technically, Derrick visited the Grand Canyon when he was around 7 years old, but he truly doesn’t have many memories of that visit, so it was like the 4 of us were seeing and taking in this amazing sight for the very first time together.
And it truly was AMAZING.
I’m not sure if we’ve EVER taken a vacation that did not center around roller coasters. We just aren’t those people. We are NOT the type of people who plan vacations around “relaxing at the beach” or “hiking” – we love to visit amusement parks and so all of our vacations center around that.
But that all changed when we went out to visit Derrick’s parents in Arizona last December. Did we find one roller coaster (a mountain coaster) to ride? YEP. But it was a MINUSCULE part of our vacation.
And guess what?
We didn’t die.
We actually had an amazing, wonderful, fun, relaxing time!
We spent one full day hiking around the Grand Canyon and then we slowly drove back to Phoenix – stopping along the way at different overlooks and hiking trails in Sedona.
And because – what’s a blog post without photos – here are just a few (these are a mix of iPhone snaps & photos taken with my “big” camera).
