Last fall was crazy. So much.
Weddings-photoshoots-selling our house-being pregnant-traveling-living with parents-new jobs-insanity.
All I could do was tread water and unfortunately a few things fell to the way-side, like blogging. I kept up with the weddings I photographed, but all of my other energy was spent on editing & getting photos back to folks. It was a crazy fun ride – but one that I don’t plan on ever getting on again!
The good news is: now that things have sort of settled down [it’s January, so no weddings or photoshoots are planned and the traveling has been cut to zero because I literally could pop a baby any day now] I have all of these awesome fun photoshoots to share to fill in the “gap” of slow-season! So, lots of pretty pictures of pretty people coming your way over the next few weeks!
And to kick things off: meet my nephew & niece & their amazing parents. This wasn’t our first rodeo – I’ve been photographing their family since literally before they became a family. I took Paul & Naomi’s engagement photos 7 years ago – my first official photoshoot. No clue what I was doing. A half-auto, half-manual Olympus camera. But I loved it. It’s what made me fall in love with engagement & wedding photography – just documenting two people so in love. And I’ve been photographing their family ever since! Thank goodness for learning & growing & new cameras & adorable babies to photograph!
Since I can look back over 7 years of photoshoots with them, I think I can officially say: this was our most fantastic shoot yet. Not because it was warm & sunny & just a spectacular day to be outside [quite the opposite really] but because this family wins the award for most faithful clients and I’m so blessed [plus we ate pizza afterward, so win-win]. And I get it – you say: they are your family & don’t really have a choice but to keep on hiring you – but I’m now playing out this trend with other families [shooting their engagement photos, then wedding, maternity, newborn, and on and on] and I just love it. I love the connection that this business allows me to build with my clients.
And I’m all practiced up – on these guys.
ANDD [insert shameless plug] my sister-in-law has taken off with this really cool business called Jamberry Nails – have you heard of them? If you haven’t [or even if you have] you should totally check out her Facebook page & get some more info from her! It takes doing your nails to a whole new level & she’s really worked hard to get her business off the ground. You should definitely hit her up & get some more details from her!
How I am just seeing this I don’t know, but you are awesome!! How did I not know we were your first official photo shoot!? I mean you have been photographing our family for so very long! We love and appreciate all the photos you have taken for us! The gift that you have given to me with photos of us, seeing how we have changed and grown, means the world to me! You are so amazing!
