Jacque has been coming to Deep Creek Lake in western Maryland for years. In fact, she’s spent about a week at the Lake (almost) every single year for over 30 years. Isn’t that amazing?
That’s one of the things I love about Deep Creek Lake – once you’ve been there & fallen in love with the place (the location, the small town, the weather, the atmosphere) you just can’t get away! It truly does pull you in hook-line-and-sinker & will continue to call you back year after year after year.
I’ve only photographed a handful of vacationing families at the Lake, but they all seem to tell the same stories: we came here once, fell in love, and now we can’t seem to get away.
Since Deep Creek Lake holds so many beautiful memories for Jacque and her family, she decided that this year she wanted some professional proof of those memories. She contacted me back at the beginning of the summer to begin planning her session & then it all came together a few weeks ago when we had the perfect summer evening! Seriously: it never seems to fail that Sunday evenings (as my family is traditionally leaving the Lake) deliver the most gorgeous weather – I’m scheduling all of my photos at the Lake on Sunday evenings from now on!
We took a huge variety of photos – different groupings, individuals, and a few of the whole group – these are just a taste of some of my absolute favorites!!
Of course: what would photos at the Lake be without sitting on the edge of the dock & splashing your feet in the water?
Jacque had beach balls & sunglasses for everyone & they made such a fun finale!
At the very end of our time together, I casually suggested, “Does anyone want to jump in the Lake?” and to my excitement, the kids all said, “YES!” What a perfect way to end a summer portrait session at the Lake!
