Have you ever wondered what 1,237 prints look like?
You haven’t?
I mean, am I the only one who lies in bed at night, counting prints instead of sheep?
Okay, that was a little crazy, I promise: I don’t do that!
Seriously though: let’s read that number one more time: one thousand, two hundred, and thirty-seven. I hate to even say this, but those aren’t even all of them! These images span from the time we found out we were expecting Braelynn thru her first birthday. But I just realized, I don’t even think I printed any “first birthday” photos! Oh well, next round.
When I created my Summer Bucket List for 2016, I knew I had to put getting prints made on there or else I would never do it! Don’t get me wrong, I love to have my pictures printed! I have canvas & large prints on display around my home, but what about all of the other (googleplex) prints I still have sitting on my harddrives?
One of the things I really love are books filled with photos, call them photo albums, scrapbooks, or whatever you’d like – I want those books in my home for my family to look back through. So, instead of designing albums & having them printed (they would look amazing) I decided I wanted to “scrapbook” my images. I decided to go this route for several reasons: 1. I can fit more images in a scrapbook type book than an album I would design. 2. It’s more cost-efficient. 3. I can write alongside the photos! I think it’s super special to have my own notes & memories written down in my own handwriting beside the images. How precious is that to look back on? So, I’ve decided to go the “scrapbooking” route.
Now, in the past, when I’ve scrapbooked, I’ve gone all out: special stickers, special paper, headings – my old scrapbooks are a work of art! The pressure to create every spread to be this work of art is huge though and I simply cannot do it! So, I have a new strategy: I want to create a “minimalist” scrapbook. I want it to be all about the photos & my memories – so maybe it would be more fitting to call it a journal? Either way, I’m excited to remove all the “artistic” pressure & to just put down my memories! I’m excited to get started!!
And getting 1,237 images printed was step one.
I ordered my prints from York Photo – one of my favorite labs for small prints! This is not a post sponsored by them or anything, but they always deliver great quality & their prices are hard to beat! They do have a referral program, if you find yourself in need of prints, use my link HERE and you’ll receive your first 60 4×6’s for free!!
