We seem to have horribly bad luck when it comes to planning theme park trips and heat waves.
I get it: in the summer, it is hot.
But it seems like we are really good at planning trips over the hottest of the hot heat waves (complete with “heat advisories” and everything).
Regardless: going to Silver Dollar City was a HUGE bucket list accomplishment for us. We have wanted to visit this park for ages and we FINALLY made it happen this summer.
This trip was monumental for a few reasons:
1. We took my Mom and sister Ruby along with us! We had such a wonderful time having them along!
2. This was a BIRTHDAY trip for Derrick! His birthday was the day before we arrived at Silver Dollar City (in other words: the day we spent driving). My sister Ruby’s birthday was also just 4 days before our time in the park, so we celebrated both of their birthdays while we were away! (Silver Dollar City gives away awesome “birthday buttons” that come with sweet perks – so definitely check that out if you’re headed there around your birthday!)
3. Derrick rode his 300th roller coaster at Silver Dollar City!! He really wanted it to be something epic like Time Traveler or Outlaw Run, but just because of how our day went, his 300th roller coaster ended up being Thunderation. SHHHHH – don’t tell anyone!
Our first day got off to a bit of a rough start (with every roller coaster we tried to get on being closed and then being “scolded” by a ride op because we didn’t understand their parent swap policy), but it redeemed itself and ended up being an incredible day.
Day 2 was even better than Day 1 and by the end of the day, we were so sad to leave and hit the road to head home.
I would like Time Traveler to be built in my backyard please.
Of course, what is a post without photos? Here are a few of the highlights of our day both from my iPhone 12 Pro and “big” camera (I have a Canon R6).
