Getting the message from Shannon asking about maternity photos so special, and not just because she & Zach were due with their first little babe just 10 weeks before Derrick & I were due with our first little babe!
Rewind back to 2012 – it was a gorgeous summer day at Pine Cradle Lake Campground in Rome, PA and Shannon & Zach were getting married. I wasn’t their official wedding photographer, but because it was one of the first weddings she ever photographed, my friend Danielle asked me to come along for help & support. It was a perfect day – they got married down by the lake [under the pavilion they’re standing under in that first photo!], enjoyed visiting with their family, and danced with their friends late into the night.
Fast forward to the fall of 2014 – when I got the message from Shannon saying that they were expecting and they wanted to go back to Pine Cradle Lake to take some maternity photos. I was so excited to re-connect with Shannon! In the weeks heading up to their session, we so enjoyed emailing back & forth, talking about pregnancy stuff! It’s one thing to talk to people who have been pregnant before – but it’s something else entirely to talk to someone who is going thru it at the same time as you are! We laughed because the comradery continued when we arrived at Pine Cradle Lake & we joked that Zach might as well go get a cup of coffee because Shannon & I had a lot of pregnancy stuff to talk about!
I don’t do a lot of maternity sessions – but something about being pregnant & shooting someone else who was pregnant at the same time was so much fun! We even re-created some of their wedding photos, since we were on the same property! But the best part of the whole deal was getting to meet & photograph their precious little babe just a few weeks later! I’ll blog those photos next!
How fun are their t-shirts?!
