We FINALLY made it onto Georgia Gold Rusher at Six Flags Over Georgia!
We don’t have the BEST track-record with Six Flags Over Georgia (see our visit in 2023 and our visit in 2025) but since we were only about 90 minutes away (on a grand extended family vacation in the mountains of Helen, Georgia), we decided to roll the dice and drive a bit out of our way in order to visit Six Flags Over Georgia and attempt to get on Georgia Gold Rusher on our way home.
Georgia Gold Rusher has had quite the rocky opening and start (which is why we missed it last year, even though it “should” have been open), but Derrick was really dying to ride this ride. We debated all week: should we gamble and go? (We don’t have the best track record with gambling to get on specific roller coasters & being successful: I’m looking at you Knott’s Berry Farm). We had originally decided that we weren’t going to go, but as we were packing up Friday night, we looked at each other and said: “We’re this close: we have to try.”
Thankfully, our gamble paid off and we got to ride! We RAN straight to Gold Rusher and since no one else seemed to know how to get to the ride, we rode a bunch of times in a row. We rode a few other coasters, ate some lunch (thanks to our our Six Flags dining plan) and then hit the road! It was a short visit, but ended up being better than our last two visits – so we’ll call that a SUCCESS!

And because, what’s a blog post without photos, here are just a few – these are all iPhone snaps. I did not bring my “big” camera into the park. (Six Flags Over Georgia has a bit of a track record of being funny with people and big cameras, so I decided to simply avoid any potential confrontation.)
