October is always my favorite month of the year.
Something about it is just magical.
I don’t know if it’s the changing seasons, the golden days, or the slower pace after busy summer months – OR maybe it’s my birthday. (That’s most likely it: my birthday is in October, which automatically makes it my FAVORITE.)
It’s been the most beautiful October EVER – we’ve had so little rain and so much warmth – it’s felt like this long, beautiful extension of September instead of October!
Moments of note this month:
(1:18) Our last weekend of the year at Deep Creek Lake – it was GORGEOUS and we had such a wonderful time (even though we were the only ones there, so it was strangely and abnormally quiet)
(3:26) Happy birthday to ME!
(5:16) We picked up some MASSIVE pumpkins this year!
(6:28) We had a not-so-wonderful visitor to our backyard randomly one morning – thankfully, he wandered on and we’ve never seen him again!
(7:32) Our little minions!
(8:37) Braelynn saw a picture on Pinterest of a crocheted hedgehog and she set about creating one herself! She is AMAZING – she never uses a pattern and just creates these things all on her own!
(9:14) We had some unseasonably warm days at the end of the month and decided to take full advantage of them by checking out a local park with a small skate park! The kids LOVED it!
(11:38) The kids decided that they wanted to attend our church’s Harvest Festival this year instead of going trick-or-treating. The draw of hanging out with their friends and playing games, while still getting a giant bag of treats was enough to sway them and they had a BLAST!
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
