November was a big month for a certain member of our family – because Braelynn officially said, “Goodbye” to her braces this month!
(So many people have asked us, so to clarify: these were just “Phase One” braces, meant to correct the placement of one of her rogue adult teeth that came in in the wrong spot (to the side & behind another tooth) – so these weren’t full-blown “normal” braces that stay on for much longer!)
Regardless – we’ve been eating LOTS of popcorn in celebration of Braelynn no longer having braces!
The secondary theme for the month of November seemed to be DRAGONS – over the course of the month, Braelynn crocheted a total of 5 dragons: Toothless, the Light Fury, and their three babies! She started the project while we were in Arizona and continued on for the whole month, finally completing Toothless on Saturday! (And I must say: they are SO adorable and fun and she did such an amazing job on them!)
Speaking of Arizona, we spent the first week of the month out in Phoenix visiting Derrick’s parents (for the third year in a row). We had so much fun and the perfect week (that week got it’s own video HERE)
November also brought the opening of Kennywood’s Holiday Lights (which is one of my favorite events of the year) – you can come with us to Kennywood HERE.
Moments of note this month:
(0:17) Putting up the kids’ Christmas Trees in their bedrooms
(0:51) The official lighting of the Abbey Christmas Tree (love this moment so much!)
(1:36) Derrick had to travel to Chicago for a broken 2 week long training
(2:09) GOODBYE BRACES!
(3:00) Happy 89th birthday to Meme!
(3:25) Light Up Norwin parade and festivities!
(6:09) Christmas shopping (and an early birthday lunch for Leander)
(6:41) HAPPY THANKSGIVING! It snowed just enough to get excited over it (but not lay), we watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Dog Show, baked pies, and then had dinner at my sister’s house with the rest of my side of the family
(8:13) Braelynn finally finished her family of dragons! What an incredible project to undertake and the end results are AMAZING!
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what our November looked like!
