The month of May was a doozy (and I do mean, A DOOZY!)
A daily baby bird watch,
Lots of sewing,
Lots of time outside,
Mother’s Day,
A lost tooth,
Kennywood,
Deep Creek Lake – and that doesn’t even hit the BIGGEST EVENT OF ALL (my brother got married on May 31st!)
Normally, I have about 40-50 minutes of video footage from the month that I cut into a 10-minute “film”, but in May? I ended up just 3 minutes shy of TWO HOURS of raw footage. YIKES.
So, I made the executive decision (because after all, I’m the boss) to cut the month of May into two films – the “daily life” part and the “wedding” part.
May was an incredible month, to say the least, and I can’t believe it’s come and gone. It flew by in the fastest of flashes, and let’s just say: the month of June has quite a lot to live up to!
Moments of note this month:
(0:48) A robin laid 3 perfectly beautiful eggs in a nest in our tree-house, so of course, we kept an eye on it every single day! We watched the eggs, watched the babies hatch, watched them grow and sprout feathers, and then we even saw them as they left the nest – what an amazing experience!
(3:42) Braelynn’s love of creating things continues as she really figured out how to work her new sewing machine this month! She made a shirt for her stuffed animal (which in making, she learned you have to leave the arm holes OPEN for!), she made a pillow, a bunch of other small projects, but her crowning achievement comes at (11:20) when she sewed herself a SKIRT!
(4:37) Braelynn’s bedroom got a MAJOR makeover this month as she swapped out her normal bed for a BUNK BED (that Grandma and Grandpa so graciously gave her). Needless to say: she LOVES the new setup!
(5:28) Mother’s Day breakfast in bed! Followed immediately by..
(5:55) Braelynn lost a tooth!!
(6:16) My only request for Mother’s Day was an afternoon at Kennywood – it was a beautiful day!
(8:11) Yes, Derrick swings the kids and pretends that they’re on different roller coasters (and pushes them accordingly)
(10:03) First boat ride of the year!
(11:10) Yes, Leander is still the mac-n-cheese chef extraordinaire!
(13:00) First tube ride of the year!
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what (part 1) of our May looked like!
Look for MAY, PART 2 (the one where my brother gets married!) HERE!
