What even happened to the month of March?
I feel like: I blinked and it disappeared.
(And I know, that’s what old people say – maybe I’m getting old?)
After a month of recurring sickness in February – we arrived in March. Thankfully, no more sickness followed (except poor Derrick – he came down with some week-long flu-thing that THANKFULLY no one else caught!) In typical “in like a lion, out like a lamb” fashion, March 1 delivered a crazy, snap-snow-storm, and then it disappeared and we were rewarded with so many beautiful, spring-like days. (In fact, my kids got sunburned on one particularly sunny day! Braelynn just said: “Perfect! I’m ready for the beach now!”)
The biggest news of our month was that Braelynn FINALLY got her braces on! It’s a process we’ve been slowly working on for months and it was exciting to finally hit the point where she has her braces! I think she looks adorable and thankfully, she hasn’t experienced too much discomfort from them!
Moments of note this month:
(1:01) Braces day!
(2:21) The kids jumped the gun a little bit and planted some bean plants they had germinated outside – they were able to flourish out there for about a week before a frost forced them inside. They’re still growing, but they’re now hanging out in my dining room for the foreseeable future.
(3:13) Leander arrived at his cousin’s birthday picnic in a tiger costume
(4:22) My brother gave Braelynn his old guitar and she started taking lessons from her Papa via the Amazon Alexa – technology is incredible!
(4:40) Happy birthday, Layla!
(5:14) Leander lost a tooth..
(6:08) ..and then, less than 24 hours later, Braelynn also lost a tooth! CRAZY!
(6:47) First trip of the year to the skate park!
(7:58) My Meme hosted all of her granddaughters for a special dinner and let us look through her jewelry to pick out anything we wanted (peep Meme at the end of the live photo I took of us at (8:47)!)
(8:50) Derrick finally got himself a DRONE
(10:00) Happy birthday, Alethea!
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what our March looked like!
