I know a lot of people follow us from our ADVENTURES (after all, we travel and ride more roller coasters than your average folk), but the more I make these monthly “daily life” videos (this is my 42nd in a row), the more I’m convinced that this is where the MAGIC truly is.
Sure, it’s fun to document out travels and us having fun on trips and vacations (it’s the ultimate souvinier!), but when we’re just doing life at home? That’s where things are REAL.
And compiling and curating these monthly films truly makes me appreciate and love our life more than ever. It’s so easy for the “little moments” to get overlooked and diminished simply because they aren’t BIG things – but the little things are truly where the magic – the love, the laughter, and the memories – live.
Moments of note this month:
(0:03) Braelynn has been perfecting her skateboarding, scootering, and roller blading skills this month! We’ve spent A LOT of time in our back alley, on the sidewalk in front of our house, and in the driveway at my parent’s house as she diligently works on her skills!
(0:44) Happy 19th birthday to my sister, Ruby!
(2:23) Summer reading kicks off at our local library!
(2:49) Happy birthday DERRICK! We finally got our backyard birthday party (it only took a few years of crappy weather to get here, but we finally did it!)
(4:51) We cheered my sister Ruby on as she competed in the Potato Smashing Contest at Kennywood Park!
(7:21) Braelynn got her own pair of brand new roller blades (up to this point, she had just been borrowing a pair)
(8:18) Nana and Papa flew in from Arizona for a grand visit! We took them to Kennywood (8:27), Papa helped us paint & seal our front steps (9:55), we went mini golfing (10:00), and celebrated the 4th of July just a smidge early (11:57)
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what our June looked like!
