July is Stitch & Angel month – let me explain:
Braelynn learned how to crochet over a year ago, but when she first started – reading a crochet pattern really overwhelmed her. Patterns tend to be long and at the time, all of the abbreviations really confused her. So, she just created her own patterns. She figured out how to crochet in a circle, increase, decrease, and change colors – almost all on her own.
Fast forward to the end of June when Braelynn and Leander watched Lilo and Stitch for the first time and they became officially OBSESSED. They each really wanted their own Stitch stuffie and Braelynn decided that she wanted to crochet one. I found her a pattern, taught her how to read it, and off she went. She worked HARD to create all of the pieces for Stitch and then sewed him together – I am SO proud of her! She was so dedicated and worked so hard – and the end result was INCREDIBLE (it honestly blew us and everyone she showed away – what an amazing project to create!)
Well, one thing leads to another and since she created Stitch, she wanted to create an Angel (Stitch’s girlfriend) too. The same place we found the Stitch pattern had an Angel pattern, so once again, she got to work – and a little under 2 weeks later, she had created an Angel stuffed animal as well!! Needless to say: she spent countless hours sitting on the couch, in her bed, and on the hammock crocheting in the month of July. I am so proud of her for all of her hard work and determination to create these two stuffed animals!
In July, we took our most spontaneous trip EVER (literally just a few hours of time spanned from us deciding to travel and actually hitting the road) – we went to CANADA’S WONDERLAND!

(4:28) Braelynn and I went to see Brandon Lake, Phil Wickham, and Josiah Queen in concert (with a whole bus-load of cousins and friends!) What an INCREDIBLE night!

Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
