February is always a wildcard in south-western Pennsylvania. As you will see – we had snow and snowmen and we had bare-foot-backyard weather.
Valentine’s Day was the highlight of our February – I was determined to keep it low-key this year, but my children had other plans in mind. They kept reminding Derrick and I that Valentine’s Day was coming and they kept a running countdown leading up to the big day. I finally broke down and got some balloons to surprise the kids with and we planned a candle-lit dinner of steak and shrimp!
Needless to say, we always get a little stir-crazy by mid-February – so thankfully, with the exception of one quick snow-storm, we had a relatively mild month – meaning the kids could still bundle up and get out to ride their bikes and scooters and run around the back yard.
Moments of note this month:
(0:16) Testing out her new bike bell she got for her birthday!
(0:27) Braelynn got to meet her brand new cousin who was born on HER birthday! Braelynn and Zoe are birthday twins!
(0:44) The tent came back into regular rotation in February – the kids would set it up for sleepovers every weekend. They got really good at putting it up by themselves and taking it down!
(1:16) Nana and Papa sent us a box of fruit from their fruit trees and Braelynn and Leander tried grapefruit for the first time ever – needless to say, they weren’t fans.
(3:10) Happy Valentine’s Day!
(4:50) Leander Cam
(5:47) Braelynn Cam
(7:18) Happy birthday to my sister, Emma!
(7:31) Starting all of our vegetable seeds for this summer! Last year, we didn’t start them until mid-March, which was a little late, so we were on top of it this year! (We use these trays – they work great!)
(8:23) Braelynn missed “January Birthday Night” at church because she was sick, so she got lumped in on “February Birthday Night”!
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what our February looked like!
