August means it’s the start of the end of summer:
The Norwin Community Picnic at Irwin Park (a HUGE community event that my Dad emcees, it’s a blast!), VBS week at church, and starting back to school – all signals that summer is coming to a very quick end.
And while we are being dragged, kicking and screaming, into the month of September and FALL, we’re doing everything we can to cling to the very last few drops of summer. I can’t believe all the things we did in August: Braelynn’s first official art gala (she crocheted a Stitch and Angel – finishing her Angel just 1 day before having to drop it off at the library for display), our last days of the regular summer season at Kennywood, a bridal shower, days at the park – the list goes on and on. It sure went by fast, but we enjoyed every moment!
We finished off the month with two big trips – we spent 3 days at Cedar Point in Ohio and then the following weekend we spent 3 days at Legoland in New York! Both were AMAZING trips and hold so many precious, fun, summer memories!

(0:23) My cousin Nate is getting married and his bride, Tai’Asia’s bridal shower was SO much fun!!
(1:43) The annual Norwin Community Picnic (emceed by my father – which means it’s ALWAYS a good time!)

(4:52) First days of school!
(5:59) Derrick convinced Leander to ride the Raging Rapids at Kennywood and even though he cried getting on, he was SMILING getting off!!
(8:10) Kennywood’s last operating weekday of the regular summer season
(8:45) My sister, Amy, had a sweet baby girl!! Baby Ruth has entered the scene and everyone is absolutely OBSESSED with her!
(9:40) Braelynn got a wicked earache and her doctor said it was simply overstuffed with earwax, so we tried ALL the earwax removal remedies!
(10:35) No, we did not get a dog – Braelynn is walking our neighbor’s son’s dog
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
