August flew by.
In fact, as I put this video together, I was like: “Wait, that happened just last month? It feels like ages ago!”
(And THAT is why I am so dedicated to creating these monthly “daily life” videos – life flies by SO fast!)
The month kicked off with our FAVORITE summer event: the Norwin Community Picnic in Irwin, PA! (1:20) My Dad is the emcee of the event every year and it’s a riot – you never know what he is going to say (my Mom holds her breath the entire time). He makes it so much fun and this year SEVERAL members of our family won including my Mom, two of my cousins, my nephew (for the second year in a row), and two of my nieces (one of which I actually caught on camera being called!) We always have so much fun at this event!
We also hosted a big “half” birthday party (6:06) for Braelynn! She has the sweetest group of friends that she desperately wanted to invite to a birthday party, but with her birthday falling in the middle of winter, hosting 12+ girls inside of our house just isn’t really possible. So, we opted for a “half” birthday party mid-summer! And even though it was August, it was COLD (temps were barely in the 60’s!) No one cared though and everyone had a blast at her “art” party. It was so much fun and Braelynn was just beside herself with joy over having almost all of her best friends together in her backyard at the same time.
Moments of note this month:
(0:12) Braelynn created her and Leander matching How To Train Your Dragon “Toothless” shirts!
(0:13) Another round of Braelynn and Leander’s version of How Ridiculous (where they drop things off of their “tower”) – all completely filmed and orchestrated by themselves
(1:20) The 92nd annual Norwin Community Picnic in Irwin, PA (my Dad is the emcee and it’s our favorite “summer” event all year!)
(2:41) End of Summer Reading Program Party by the Norwin Public Library
(3:13) Braelynn’s BIGGEST fish she’s caught yet!
(4:42) This year, we had our family photos taken at Kennywood!! We always go to a local park so we could include Abby in the photos, but with her gone, we decided to do something different and fun (and we had a BLAST!)
(6:06) Braelynn’s HALF birthday party!
(8:19) Back to school!
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what our August looked like!
