If you watch our August video, you might get the impression that we spent the entire month at Kennywood (we did spend a lot of time there in August, after it felt like we barely visited in July!)
August always kicks off with the big Norwin Community Picnic – emceed by my Father. And that event (secretly) signals the beginning of the “end” of summer (boo).
After that, we attempted to squeeze in as much swimming, biking, and roller-coaster-riding as possible!
Moments of note this month:
(0:36) The 2023 Norwin Community Picnic – Leader won a prize!
(2:31) We took Grandma, Aunt Ruby, Aunt Amy, and Leo to Kennywood – what a fun day!
(3:04) All summer long, Leander has been OBSESSED with the Tiger on the carousel at Kennywood – he literally will NOT ride ANY other animal
(5:20) Leander’s “magic tricks”
(8:32) Leander rode the Jack Rabbit at Kennywood – his first BIG coaster! He said it “hurt his feelings” (but he told us on the way home that he would MAYBE ride it again)
(9:04) Mini family reunion at Aunt Dot & Uncle Jim’s house
(10:05) Braelynn and Leander played a “prank” on Derrick
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what our August looked like!
