Earlier this week, my kids had pulled up our catalog of “daily life” videos and were watching them.
Needless to say: we ALL got shamelessly sucked in to what “daily life” looked like for the Abbeys 3 years ago.
Braelynn and Leander were SO tiny!
Braelynn was missing a whole slew of teeth and Leander was barely talking and toddling around on shaky, newly-walking legs.
Time has gone by so fast.
And (not that my resolve in creating these monthly “daily life” videos has ever weakened), it has simply STRENGTHENED my passion for capturing our memories (even the little “not important” moments) and treasuring them up for a future day to look back on.
Because, before you know it, it’ll be 2027 and we’ll be watching the videos I created in 2024.
And we’ll be wondering: where did the days go?!
Moments of note this month:
(0:18) The Eclipse! We experienced about 98% totality of the eclipse – I wish I would have documented more, but in reality, I’m thankful I documented it at all. I was TERRIBLY sick for the first 10 days of the month of April – so, I made it out to watch the eclipse, but that was about as far as I could get.
(0:42) Braelynn learned how to crochet a whale and since we made our first little whales, she’s gone on to create AT LEAST 20 more! I wish I had kept count of how many she made, because she truly went to town! She made them in all sizes and colors – and has given most of them away to her cousins and friends.
(1:04) Did you know dandelions make fantastic “paint”?
(1:23) First dinner outside! YAY summer!
(2:02) Braelynn bought herself a sewing machine at a consignment sale and she has been sewing up a storm!
(3:02) A robin made a nest and laid 3 eggs in our treehouse! The kids have been on egg-watch every single day since they realized there were eggs in the nest!
(4:26) Derrick and I sat down with Chuck from Kennywood Krazy and did a mini-interview! It was so much fun!
(5:38) Leo’s 2nd birthday party!
(7:13) We broke our pool out for the first time this summer! The kids had a blast!
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what our April looked like!
