Would you take your small children to a halloween event at your local amusement park?
Well, the good news is, with Kennywood Park’s Phantom Fall Fest – you can!
Starting last year, Kennywood Park has transformed it’s “Fright Nights” into Phantom Fall Fest. The park is now open during the day on weekends so that families can still come and enjoy the park, before any “scary” stuff kicks into gear.
Sure, all of the halloween decorations are still up and around the park, but there are no haunts open, the mazes are all closed, and there are no scare actors waiting around the corner to jump out and scare you.
It’s a 100% family-friendly atmosphere and we love having a few extra weekends of fun, before the cold, dark, roller-coaster-less winter months set in.
(If you don’t want to experience any “frights”, just make sure you leave before 6pm when they unleash the Phantom and his scary friends.)
As season passholders, we were able to get into the park an hour early for exclusive ride time on Jack Rabbit, Kangaroo, The Old Mill, and the carousel. And, since we were one of the first 150 people in the park on Saturday, we were also invited to attend Kenny’s Hoppin’ Halloween Bash – a luncheon with Kenny Kangaroo, Parker the Arrow, and a Scarecrow! The food was all Halloween themed (and delicious) and Leander loved interacting with Kenny Kangaroo! He even offered him his cupcake!
If you’ve never been to Kennywood during their Halloween events because you don’t like scary stuff – go check out Phantom Fall Fest during the day. It’s so much fun, the crowds are typically pretty light, and there’s nothing like getting a few extra roller coaster rides in in the cool autumn air!
Of course, what is a post without photos? Here are a few of the highlights of our day both from my iPhone 12 Pro and “big” camera (I have a Canon R6).
