As roller coaster enthusiasts, we have visited “The Roller Coaster Capital of the World” – Cedar Point many times. Since we only live about 3 hours away, it’s an easy “out & back” trip for us (we’ve made the trip all in one day a few times now). But, we’ve also stayed in nearby hotels in order to extend our time in the park (because, if you’ve ever been to Cedar Point – you know: it’s a MASSIVE place & one can easily spend several days there & STILL not ride every ride!)
We have always dreamed of staying ON the island though & taking full advantage of the Cedar Point RESORT & back at the end of August, we finally made that happen.
We ultimately decided not to book a hotel room in Hotel Breakers (the hotel on the island), but instead to rent a cabin & stay at Lighthouse Point (the price-points were actually very similar). I won’t lie: it was definitely a bit more expensive than we typically spend on accommodations, but in the long-run, we decided to splurge & go for it.
And (spoiler alert), it RUINED us.
I doubt we will ever be able to go to Cedar Point & stay anywhere BUT on property ever again. It was just SO wonderful to be so close – to be able to go between our cabin, the waterpark, and the amusement park seamlessly – to park our car & not have to load up & drive & unload & deal with parking the entire time we were there – it was delightful. (HIGHLY recommend.)
And in the long-run, the extra perks we got from staying on Cedar Point property + our annual passes – in reality, the extra cost balanced itself out & we saw it as being totally worth it.
We spent a FULL 3-days at Cedar Point, taking advantage of the waterpark, the amusement park, we explored the beach, and took advantage of the “after hours” beach party they had set up on the beach. And after that experience, our view of Cedar Point has definitely changed. We no longer see it as simply another (large) amusement park (with some of the best roller coasters in the world), but an entire RESORT DESTINATION, with SO much to do & see & enjoy!! We had the best time & are already looking forward to our next trip out to Cedar Point.
