For Derrick’s birthday, he wanted to do one thing.
(I’ll give you one guess, and if you get it wrong, you go straight to jail – do not pass go, do not collect $200)
Did you guess?
Yes, he wanted to ride roller coasters.
(I know, it’s a big surprise.)
Derrick’s birthday was on a Friday this year & I actually photographed a wedding all day on his actual birthday (Friday weddings are rare, but I was excited to book this one as it would mean that we would have the rest of the weekend free to celebrate Derrick’s birthday, however he wanted!)
So, we got up Saturday, packed up our car, and hit the road to go to Hersheypark.
Storm Runner at Hershey is one of Derrick’s favorite launching roller coasters & it was closed all last year. As soon as he saw it testing & open this year, he added Hershey to our list of “must visit parks” in 2021.
Thankfully, Hershey is just a 3-hour drive across the state of Pennsylvania for us, so it’s an easy weekend adventure.
We took advantage of Chocolate World & getting into Hersheypark for the last 2 hours of the operating day before our full day in the park. On Saturday night, the park was PACKED. We didn’t ride a single ride. Thankfully though, Sunday brought cloudy skies, threatening rain, and cooler temperatures – which seemed to scare the giant crowds away. We had a fantastic day on Sunday, waiting 15 minutes or less for every ride we wanted to ride in the park.
Enjoy a little peek into our time at Hersheypark!
And because, what’s a blog post without photos? Here are just a few of the images I took on our visit (I only took my “big” camera into the park on Saturday night – the rest of the images are from my iPhone!)
[…] However, after getting caught in a sticky situation (and almost not being able to find a hotel) in Hershey a few weeks before, we went ahead and planned our trip to Carowinds about 2 weeks ahead of time […]
