Ahhhh, remember when it was summer & even though we had to wear masks, we could go ride roller coasters?
Maybe it’s just the crazy-coaster-wife in me coming out, but man do I miss going to amusement parks! During any other “normal” year, we’d still be getting our amusement park “fix” by going to Kennywood’s Holiday Lights thru the month of December. However, since Kennywood decided not to host their Halloween or Christmas events this year – we haven’t been in an amusement park since September 4th! I know, to “normal” people, who only visit their local amusement park once or twice a year, I sound completely nuts, but I guess that officially lands me in the “not-normal” category.
Dare I officially begin to call myself a “coaster enthusiast”?
Titles aside – back at the end of August, Derrick & I took the kids on one last spontaneous roller coaster riding trip. We drove out to Ohio to visit Cedar Point & Kings Island one last time (with a special secret ending to our trip – two nights at the Great Wolf Lodge).
The problem with making plans (sporadic as they might be) in regards to traveling & amusement parks is: you are kind of at the mercy of the weather. Thankfully, we’ve been blessed to have mostly really amazing weather during all of our trips – but our day at Cedar Point proved to be one of those days that make me add in the “mostly” to the first part of this sentence.
We knew that rain was in the forecast, but it looked like it was going to hold off & not rain until the afternoon. So, we crossed our fingers & hoped that the weather would scare the crowds away & give us a few hours to get in some rides. And, that’s exactly what happened! In fact, we rode more in the 4 hours we had in the park in August, than in the entire day Derrick & I spent at Cedar Point in July. Even though the rain did eventually roll in & shut everything down for the rest of the day – those few hours we had were amazing & totally worth the trip.
So, I invite you to take a little peak into our day at Cedar Point (you won’t want to miss Braelynn’s commentary in the middle of the vlog – it’s priceless!)
