Tony & Nikki were introduced to each other through their brothers.
Growing up, they went to the same highschool (not in the same class though) and had heard of each other, but it wasn’t until after both had graduated that they met. Nikki’s parents were hosting a get-together at their house & Nikki’s brother invited his best friend to come. He came and brought his brother along & in Nikki’s words: “I guess Tony just never really left after that!”
Fast forward 8 years – can you believe that? Life for Tony & Nikki was simply always “together”. They moved into an old farmhouse on family property and had a beautiful baby girl together (believe it or not, their little girl has the same birthday as Braelynn – they’re just one year apart!). They’re getting married in a few weeks & well, I don’t want to spoil the wedding blog post, but I’m really looking forward to it (I’ll give you a hint: another piece of family property + hand-made wooden tables & benches!)
These two brave souls agreed to wake up before the crack of dawn so that we could have a sunrise engagement session together! See, I always tell people that my favorite time to take pictures is in the evening, as the sun is setting. When the sun is low on the horizon is when you get the most beautiful warm & glowy light. Well, guess what? If you wake up super early (super-duper early in the summer) you can catch that same golden glow as the sun is rising. And that’s exactly what we did! The storm clouds threatened a little bit as we started out, but they eventually got the hint & gave way to beautiful sunshine!
Believe it or not, but Nikki & Tony’s entire engagement session was photographed on the property they live on! I laughed with Nikki & Tony when I told them that I had looked their house up on Google Earth & was a little nervous at the house’s lack of a large yard or trees or “scenic” spots. I mean, I can basically make anything work, but sometimes it’s just nice to have a beautiful pallet, you know? So, you can imagine my surprise when Nikki & Tony took me on a walk back through a field and into the woods – to this beautiful serene stream! It was so beautiful, I was a little speechless!
Then it was back to the house for a quick outfit change – isn’t Nikki’s LuLaRoe dress absolutely adorable?! It has pockets!! I must admit, I’m a little obsessed with it & kind of want one for myself!
So, Tony & Nikki live in an old farmhouse and next door is a big old barn where his family used to keep milk cows! We had to sneak into the barn for a few pictures!
Absolutely beautiful pictures and writing. I cried through the whole thing. Thank you Kara.
[…] must admit, Tony surprised me a little bit! He looked a bit different than when we did their engagement pictures just a few weeks […]
