Nate and Tai’Asia met at Sheetz last year.
You might take that statement to assume maybe they both worked at Sheetz, and they met as co-workers?
Maybe mutual friend-groups were grabbing foot at Sheetz and that’s how introductions were made?
Maybe one of them ran into the other’s vehicle & they met because of the accident?
Nope. None of those scenarios.
It was really very simple:
Nate had his motorcycle and was headed out for an evening ride.
But first, he decided to stop at Sheetz and get some food.
While he was sitting on his bike in the parking lot, he heard a voice behind him boldly declare: “Nice bike!”
He turned around and there was Tai’Asia.
If life was a movie, the moment would become a slo-mo shot, the music would get dramatic, the angels would sing, and eyes would glitter.
But this is real life, and while none of those things actually happened, time definitely did slow down and a magical conversation did take place that would change the trajectory of Nate and Tai’Asia’s lives forever.
Just to be fully transparent: Nate is my cousin, so when we first heard rumors that “Nate’s got a girlfriend”, we all kind of went spiraling, trying to figure out if this was true or not. One weekend at the Lakehouse early last spring, my sister Amy (the snoop that she is) noticed some “suspicious” text messages popping up on Nate’s phone, which he’d left unattended on the table on the porch. (Word to the wise: never leave your phone unattended when cousins are around! It doesn’t matter how old you are – they will read any notifications that come through and leave you a bunch of selfies.)
Just a few weeks later, Nate arrived at my youngest sister (Ruby’s) birthday party with a girl: Tai’Asia.
It was a solid test, because we were ALL at Ruby’s party. In case you don’t know my family: between my siblings and my cousins, we make QUITE the large group (not counting spouses and children, there are 18 of us + my grandparents). So, Nate was very brave (and very confident) to bring his girlfriend to such a gathering.
Tai’Asia didn’t shy away from it though. She embraced the crowd and the chaos – she talked to everyone and was excited to meet Nate’s big, crazy family.
That’s when we knew she was a keeper.
Nate proposed to Tai’Asia earlier this spring, and with an early fall wedding quickly approaching – we celebrated with engagement photos a few weekends ago!
