Mike went all out when he was planning how he was going to propose to Miranda. While some guys do candles & chocolate & roses, Mike took Miranda on a vacation. And not just any vacation, but the best kind of vacation: they went to Miami Beach. Mike knew he wanted to pop the question on the beach, with the sound of the waves crashing in the background. He also wanted the moment to be more secluded & private, which is a challenge in Miami! So, he watched & he waited and one evening while they were walking on the beach, he saw his window of opportunity.
He turned to his gorgeous best friend and stopped their walk. He held her hand & got down on one knee. Completely surprised, tears rose to Miranda’s eyes. She honestly had no idea that he was going to propose!
There was just one problem: as Mike was asking Miranda to marry him, he noticed a shady looking character making his way toward them. As Miranda was responding, “Yes!” Mike stood up quickly & put his arm protectively around her waist. “We need to keep walking,” he said as he led her along. Unsure of what was going on, Miranda played along, and once they were a safe distance away and not being followed, Mike explained that he was worried that they were about to get robbed.
Ring still in hand, he reached over & gently slid it onto Miranda’s finger. And they laughed – because that story almost could have had a different ending.
This past Saturday, Mike & Miranda officially kicked off the wedding season at Foggy Hollow – a new rustic wedding venue in New Albany, Pennsylvania! Miranda perfectly curated & pulled together burlap, lace, & baby’s breath to compliment the exposed wood & beams in the barn reception. Together, paired with the guys’ khaki suits, Miranda’s rose bouquet, and blush bridesmaids gowns, it made the entire day altogether perfectly elegant.
Mike & Miranda – thank you so much for inviting me in to be a part of your absolutely wonderful wedding day. We scared off the rain, stood strong against the wind, and enjoyed that fabulous sunshine! I’m so blessed to have been a part of celebrating your new family & wish y’all all the happiness together!
Miranda! You are absolutely gorgeous!
The bride was definitely radiant on Saturday, but her two daughters definitely made an attempt to steal the show! Aren’t Bella & Maddie absolutely adorable? (loving that foot-pop Maddie!!)
Like I mentioned, Foggy Hollow is a really new wedding venue. It’s only their second season in operation – their first season with the large covered dancing area in front of the barn! It’s really well put together & the owners were so attentive & helpful the entire day long.
Did I mention that I love when guys where khaki suits – especially for an outdoor summer ceremony! They are just so classy! And these gentleman pulled them off with ease!
This was so sweet & one of my favorite moments of the day! Miranda’s Dad walked her from the barn to the beginning of the aisle, and then Bella & Maddie walked out to meet them & walk their Mom down the aisle. It was so sweet!
Miranda & Mike performed a unity ceremony during their wedding, but instead of sand or candles, they used a tree. As a family of 5, they all watered the tree that they plan to take home & plant.
It was a little windy, can you tell?
I loved so many of the personal touches they incorporated into their ceremony! It was so fun that instead of the Pastor announcing the new Mr. & Mrs., she stepped aside and allowed Mike’s brother (the best man) the honor of introducing them for the very first time. How fun is that?
Being the new family of 5, we had to take some time to specifically commemorate this adorable family! I love this photo, but I love how tightly Maddie is hanging onto her Mom’s arm the most!
And then there were just two.
Okay, so I have to take a moment & talk about this cake. It’s gorgeous, right? Miranda’s Mom made the cake and I had multiple people tell me that the cake was what they were looking forward to the most. After Miranda & Mike cut the cake, I was shocked to see an instant (and long) line form at the cake table. These people were serious about their cake! Usually, the wedding cake is cut and it hardly gets eaten, but Mike & Miranda’s guests made sure that not one crumb of this cake went to waste. I did make sure to snag a small piece & it was every bit as good as everyone described to me!
The sweetness continues! After the traditional First Dance, Father/Daughter Dance, and Mother/Son Dance, Mike danced with each of Miranda’s daughters – there was not a dry eye in the house! It was absolutely precious.
As the sun was setting, I pulled Mike & Miranda out of their reception. I led them down to the field below the barn & told them to simply take it all in. Savor the moment. It was their wedding day – finally here & I wanted them to enjoy it! I stepped back & let them enjoy watching their party from afar & talk about their day – aren’t they perfectly adorable?
And then, I couldn’t help myself but snag one last night shot under the string of lights!
Huge shout-out and thank you to the amazing team of vendors who helped make Mike & Miranda’s wedding day absolutely perfect!
