Every year I photograph a handful of seniors. They’re typically a really fun break from shooting weddings & couples in love! Switching gears to photograph just one single person when I usually have a bride & groom or a whole wedding party or extended family in front of my camera is a lot of fun. Most of the seniors I photograph, I’ve worked with before in some capacity. I’ve either photographed their sister’s wedding, done family portraits for their family in the past, or some combination of both of those!
In this case – it’s been all of the above!
I’ve known Mary Kate & her family for years. She was a member of the youth group for the season that Derrick & I taught at his parent’s church, I’ve photographed her family on multiple occasions, and just last summer I photographed her sister Casey & new brother-in-law Nick’s wedding (if you’ve followed my blog for any length of time, you probably thought she looked familiar)!
It was at Casey & Nick’s wedding that we reconnected – I hadn’t seen Mary Kate in years (that tends to happen when you move to the other end of the state). So, when she sent me a message shortly after the wedding, asking if I could take some Senior pictures for her, of course, I said yes! We got together on the most glorious of fall days! I loved having the chance to catch up with her, hear all about her various potential plans for after high school, and of course, take some gorgeous pictures of her!
A quick outfit change! I love when seniors bring a variety of things to wear (and show their personalities through) like Mary Kate’s Converses paired with the dress! She put those shoes on and her personality just came shining out (don’t let anyone tell you that shoes aren’t important)!
Mary Kate brought one more change of clothes & I think she saved the best for last! This dress (and the aqua colored one) were both dresses she “stole” out of her sisters’ closets! I think that’s probably the best part of having a whole bunch of sisters – you can swap clothes!
