My Mom & Dad have one [yes: ONE] wedding photo hanging in our house.
It’s hanging in our living room – it’s a nice, large, matted print of my Mom & Dad standing at the alter. It’s the formal shot: my Dad is wearing a grey tux with tails & my Mom is decked out in a glorious white lacy dress, complete with a hat that her veil flows from.
But that is the only wedding image hanging in our house. If you want to see more from my Mom & Dad’s wedding day – you have to pull out their wedding album. It’s a classic: white padded cover with thick, yellowed, laminated pages. Their wedding album tells the story [albeit a somewhat posed & contrived story] of their wedding day. It was all shot on film and so there aren’t a lot of “in the moment” shots – film photographers 26 years ago didn’t have the freedom to take 3-4 images of the same thing just in case someone blinked, or moved, or to “check the lighting”. It had to be spot on – and their wedding photographer was.
Pulling out their wedding album is almost like pulling out the old family Bible. You handle it with care, only touch it with permission & clean fingers, and it only comes out on rare occasions. It is a beautiful family heirloom that will be treasured for generations.
I love being a wedding photographer. Capturing those special moments for a bride & groom on their wedding day is my absolute favorite thing in the world. Further, I love giving my clients the digital negatives from their wedding day, to make prints to hang on the wall, give to Grandma, and show off to their friends. For the year 2014, I wanted to step it up one more notch – and offer my brides & grooms their first family heirloom. Having a few images hanging on the wall is one thing – but having a book that tells the story of their wedding day from start to finish is completely different.
So, along with the digital negatives of the images from your wedding day – I now offer the option of adding on a luxury wedding album. I ordered a sample album with the images from John & Amberlee’s incredible wedding last summer & I can’t stop looking at it! It is so beautiful & I can’t wait to show it off to my brides & grooms for this year!
If you’d like to see the entire layout of the album, you can see it here!
If you’d like to see it in person & touch it’s beautifully thick pages, smell that new book smell, & examine how thin the seam down the middle is – let me know! I’d love to show it off!!
These are fantastic! What great quality albums 🙂
I wish we would have got an album from my wedding, I didn’t know the option was available. Just beautiful.
You totally brought me back to memories of looking through my parents and grandparents wedding albums 🙂 The album you ordered looks GORGEOUS! I am obsessed with the thick, hard, lay-flat pages….just stunning!
Oh, you have taken me back to the days of photos in albums. That is so, so, so wonderful!
Wow, that is a NICE wedding album. And I love the way you photographed the details!
