FUN spring engagement photos at The Meadows Frozen Custard in Monroeville, PA & Mammoth Park in Mount Pleasant, PA.
One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is the relationships & friendships & bonds I form with my KAP Couples. Seriously, it’s the best! A revolving door of friends – you could not ask for a better “job”. I love being able to sit down with a newly engaged couple who are simply glowing with excitement & anticipation and hear all about them. I truly love love stories & it’s so much fun to hear how, like snowflakes, every single love story is completely different & unique.
I do have to laugh though, because as much as each story is unique, so many have very similar beginnings. And when a couple begins telling me the story of how they met, so many times they’ll kind of look down & shyly smile & say, “We met online.” Which is when I laugh & reassure them that so many of my KAP Couples meet online!! And so many of them give the same reasoning: “I didn’t want to meet just anyone at a bar.”
Debbie & Kevin’s story starts this way. They met each other online. In fact, it was a point of teasing each other for a long while because Kevin stood his ground that he messaged Debbie first, but Debbie was sure that she messaged Kevin first. Eventually, they went back in the archives of the dating website, and answered the question once & for all (Debbie is the winner of this one!)
For 2 full months they simply emailed each other. No pressure, very low-key, and really relaxed. They considered each other their “pen pal”. Both had been previously married & divorced, and they said that it was just so wonderful to find a caring, interested friend in the other person.
A few months went by, when Debbie sent Kevin a teasing message, asking if he was ever going to actually call her on the phone. Kevin laughed that as he was reading those words, his hands were grabbing his cell phone & he was dialing her number.
The emails led to phone calls, which led to their first date: mini-golfing & TGI Fridays. And I think their first date defines their relationship perfectly. When we talked about their engagement photos, they told me that they just love to have fun together & they love to laugh. And that sums up their relationship perfectly for me!
We started off their engagement session at The Meadows in Monroeville. Debbie has a daughter that we wanted to include in some of their engagement photos – Livia is 8 years old and we knew that an ice cream parlor would be the perfect place to start. Sure enough, the ice cream was perfect & we had so much fun there!
After we finished our ice cream, we headed up to Mammoth Park in Mount Pleasant for the rest of our time together. It was surreal, because Mammoth Park is where I photographed my very first engagement session – the one where I realized I really enjoyed taking photos of people in love!
(And believe it or not, neither Debbie or Kevin had ever been down the big slide! so, I made them go down! They’ll probably laugh that I’m posting this, but it so perfectly sums up “them” – laughing & having fun!)
