We aren’t big Halloween people – we don’t do haunts or scare mazes, or almost any Halloween stuff – but we WILL visit Kennywood Park!
As our home park, we LOVE that a few years back, Kennywood revamped what was once known as “Fright Nights” to “Phantom Fall Fest” – giving families (and people like us) a chance to still enjoy the park all the way until the end of October. The park is open weekends through Halloween and from 12pm until 6pm, the park is free of scare actors, scare zones, and none of the haunts are open.
Beware though! At 6pm, all of Phantom’s ghouls come out to play – and we just make sure we’re out of the park by then.
While Derrick and the kids have been to Phantom Fall Fest already once this season, I have missed out because I’ve had weddings or photo sessions booked every single Saturday and Sunday since mid-September (and then we spent 10 days super sick). So, even though the rain was threatening, we had a free afternoon yesterday and so we dashed off to enjoy a few hours in the park!
Of course, what is a post without photos? Here are a few photos from our day from my iPhone (because of the “small bags only” policy that goes into effect during Phantom Fall Fest, I don’t even attempt to bring my “big” camera into the park in the fall!)

If you’d like a stroll down memory lane, you can go back & re-live our days at Kennywood for Phantom Fall Fest in year’s past!
