Kennywood Park in West Mifflin, PA (just outside of Pittsburgh) is our “home” amusement park, so we are there A LOT.
When the regular season ends and the “off season” officially kicks into gear, we literally don’t know what to do with ourselves on random Tuesday nights (because, if it was summer, we’d probably find ourselves at Kennywood).
The Halloween season has brought “Fright Nights” to Kennywood for as long as I can remember. However, three years ago, the park changed their policies, re-branded, and “Phantom Fall Fest” was born. The park is now open during the day on Saturday and Sundays for families (and those who are not-so-into the scare stuff) to be able to come in and still enjoy the park, before dusk when the park “flips” into scare mode.
In other words: our Kennywood season now extends all the way until the end of the year – and we LOVE it.
The best days to visit Kennywood are always days when it’s threatening rain – the crowds are always super light! Unfortunately, you also run the risk of the park closing down early – which is precisely what happened to us. Kennywood’s “rainy day guarantee” kicked into effect and everyone was handed tickets to come back on another Phantom Fall Fest operating day.
*PLEASE NOTE: If you are headed to Kennywood for Phantom Fall Fest – the small bag policy is BACK. Security is extremely tight! So, if you plan to visit the park, be sure to check the new security guidelines on Kennywood’s website so you are prepared to go through security.
Of course, what is a post without photos? Here are a few photos from our day from my iPhone.
